After we rode through the night in 2018 we had a few hours sleep in Wenns to do the Kuhtai Sattel afterwards, nice warming up for the coming week.

A drink and a snack made up for that and I continued to the top. Another few miles of climbing, once in the village; everything closed; completely deserted a typical Tyrolean ski village in the summer.
I sat down in the sun along the road and waited for my buddies, finally 1 of the 4 climbed to the top on my bike and we could have a drink in a stube.
We did not descend, it was so cold and there was so much wind that it was not wise.

Vanuit Haiming naar boven en dat was afzien. In Oostenrijk hebben beklimmingen vaak diverse benamingen, een lokale, internationale etc oftewel zorg dat je goed voorbereidt bent, want deze maakt gehakt van je benen en mentale gestel.
Er komt geen eind aan de dubbele cijfers en als je eenmaal boven bent moet je nogmaals door naar Kuhtai.
Mijn fietsmaten waren al ver achter, eentje met pech andere met lekke banden en de teambus haalde me bij na de kleine afdaling richting Kuhtai. Het was gaan regenen en ik had het ietwat koud.
Een drankje en hapje maakte veel goed en ik ging door naar de top. Weer een paar kilometer klimmen, eenmaal in het dorp; alles dicht; volledig uitgestorven een typisch Tirools skidorp in de zomer.
Ik ben in de zon gaan zitten langs de weg en gewacht op mijn maatjes, uiteindelijk is er nog 1 van de 4 op de fiets bovengekomen en konden we bij de gratie gods een drankje doen in een stube.
Afdalen hebben we niet gedaan, zo koud en zoveel wind dat het niet verstandig was.

Als ik terugkijk hadden we rechtsaf gemoeten voor de "rustige " beklimming van Kuhtai, Team Jumbo laat zijn klimmers vanuit Haiming trainen en de knechten vanuit Oetz! Dit zegt genoeg.
