Geleidelijk maar pittig lopende klim over een drukke weg. Mist wat charme, maar kan toch even pijn doen richting de top.
This was a bit of a pig to face, after climbing and then (partially, clearly) descending from Drielandenpunt. Not very long, but pretty tough gradients almost all the way doesn't play too well with my power profile!
You're rewarded with a nice view (from the other side of the road, unfortunately) once you reach the "summit", worth taking a look to the left!

To Belgian standards, reasonable road surface for this type of track. Not the nicest climb if you are in the neighbourhood and certainly not the quietest in terms of traffic. There is no separate bike path, if you combine this with the climb to Vaals, it doesn't give you the feeling of riding in the Netherlands. If you have the choice from Gemmenich to ride to the three countries point, you better turn after a hundred meters to the Route de Trois Bornes, much quieter and more beautiful.
Naar Belgische norm redelijk wegdek voor dit type baan. Niet de mooiste klim als je in de buurt bent en zeker niet de rustigste qua verkeer een gescheiden fietspad is hier niet, als je deze verder combineert met de klim naar Vaals geeft dit niet het gevoel van in Nederland te rijden. Als je vanuit Gemmenich de keuze hebt om naar het drielandenpunt te rijden kan je beter na een honderdtal meter afslaan naar de Route de Trois Bornes veel rustiger en mooier.
For most people the Rue de Vaals starts a bit later than indicated on the map, namely when they come from the descent of the Vaalserberg. Een klassieker om je vrienden hier flink pijn te doen stamt uit het Rabo-tijdperk: de scherpe bocht naar rechts vanaf de Route des Trois Bornes zo snel mogelijk nemen en dan goed gas geven. Geheid klinkt er gevloek en getier achter je!
Challenging in percentages, not in allure. A nice way to get from the descent of the Vaalserberg directly back to the Netherlands (but why would you, if you stay on the Belgian side of the mountain ridge, you cycle much nicer and quieter!).

Despite the fact that this road leads to a real full pass (the lowest point on a higher ridge) the cycling value is not high. It's a busy road and a wide track that winds up between the buildings of Gemmenich.
Ondanks dat deze weg naar een echte volwaardige pas gaat ( het laagste punt op een hogere kam) is de fietswaarde niet hoog. Een drukke weg en een brede baan die omhoog slingert tussen de bebouwing van Gemmenich.
A double climb. On the one hand, there's a nice winding road with nice tarmac that really leads to a col that gives you the feeling of being much further than the Dutch border. On the other hand, it's a very busy road with trucks and busses, so it wasn't really nice cycling. But because of the character of the road, it's not to be sneezed at.
It's a good runner, until you see the white detached house on your left, which is just at the NL side of the border and indicates you're almost there. Then you feel the road getting a lot steeper. But that doesn't last long until you reach the top.
Een tweeledige klim. Enerzijds een mooi slingerende weg met mooi asfalt die echt naar een "col" gaat en het gevoel geeft veel verder dan bij de Nederlandse grens te zijn. Anderzijds is het wel een ontzettend drukke weg met ook vrachtwagens en bussen, dus echt fijn fietsen was het niet. Maar vanwege het karakter toch niet te versmaden.
Prima loper verder, totdat je links boven het witte vrijstaande huis ziet wat net aan de NL-zijde van de grens staat en aangeeft dat je er bijna bent. Dan voel je de weg ineens een stuk steiler worden. Maar dat duurt niet lang totdat je boven bent.
Very busy road between the houses, the climb follows the descent of the Côte des Trois Frontières. If you come from the descent, the climb begins in a sharp turn back to the right where you immediately start to climb hard. So make sure your gear is right otherwise you could end up parked.
At the end of the climb there is a steep climb.
Erg drukke weg tussen de huizen door, de klim volgt op de afdaling van de Côte des Trois Frontières. Als je vanuit de afdaling komt begint de klim in een scherpe terugdraaiende bocht naar rechts waarbij je direct flink begint te klimmen. Zorg dus dat je versnelling goed staat anders kan je geparkeerd komen te staan.
Aan het eind vd klim loopt het nog even pittig stijl.
Climb is not so bad. Before you know it, you are already at the top. After a short descent comes a slightly nasty climb.
Klim valt reuze mee. Voordat je erg in hebt, ben je al boven. Na een korte afdaling komt vervolgens een iets vervelendere klim.
Short but tough climb, not pretty and very busy. You can better take the Côte des Trois Frontières. That is calmer and much more beautiful.
Korte maar toch pittige klim, niet fraai en erg druk. Je kan beter de Côte des Trois Frontières nemen. Die is rustiger en veel mooier.
