Nice climb, with the tarmac getting better the higher you get. Quite a lot of traffic I must say. The views are fine. In addition, it is not too difficult, so you will not break down completely. The length gives you the feeling that you are really doing something beautiful.
Leuke klim, waarbij het asfalt beter wordt naarmate je hoger komt. Vrij veel verkeer moet ik zeggen. De uitzichten zijn prima. Daarbij is het allemaal niet al te moeilijk, dus helemaal kapot gaan zal je niet. De lengte geeft je het gevoel dat je echt met iets moois bezig bent.
Beautiful climb. With those hairpin bends, you imagine yourself somewhere in France!!! If you stop in a car park on the left-hand side after the first hairpin bend, you have a great view of the (derelict) car test track of the former Imperia car factory in Nessonvaux.
Prachtige klim. Met die haarspeldbochten waan je je ergens in Frankrijk!! Als je na de eerste haarspeldbocht op een parkeerplaats aan de linkerkant stopt, heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de (vervallen) autotestbaan van de voormalige Imperia autofabriek in Nessonvaux.

Halfway up it gets a lot better and there is a nice winding road with excellent tarmac. Still fun to do, then.
Ondanks de mooie haarspeldbocht en de groene omgeving toch de mindere van de klimmen deze kant op. Dat komt vooral door het matige wegdek in het eerste deel en - op enkele kleine doorkijkjes na - het gebrek aan uitzicht. Halverwege wordt het een stuk beter en volgt nog een mooie bochtige weg met uitstekend asfalt. Nog steeds wel leuk om te doen dus.

Leuk als je in de buurt bent, want een vrij prettig percentage en een mooie lengte. De omgeving is niet denderend, bijna constant is er wel wat bebouwing. Het wegdek is niet storend slecht (voor Wallonië). Verkeersdrukte valt mee maar het is inderdaad een weg die breed genoeg is om gewoon ingehaald te worden.
Not exactly a favourite climb, but it's on the shortest route from home to Banneux ... and that's already 85 km. The asphalt is, (04/22) as on many Ardennes inner roads, downright bad, and it doesn't get any better with age. Uphill it's not too bad, but downhill it really is worth watching out for.
Niet direct een favoriete klim, maar hij ligt op de kortste route van thuis uit naar Banneux ... en da's al 85 km. Het asfalt is, (04/22) zoals op vele Ardeense binnenwegen ronduit slecht, en het wordt er met de jaren niet beter op. Bergop valt het nog mee, maar naar beneden blijft het echt wel uitkijken.
The gateway to the Ardennes as they sometimes call this climb. And the title is right: as soon as you reach the top, the road to Remouchamps etc. is open and the real Ardennes climbing fun can begin.
This climb is also an ideal hill to warm up the climbing legs: 4 km at a very even gradient of +/- 5-6％, a real runner therefore.
The road surface is not equally good everywhere, especially the first 1.5 km could be improved, but about halfway it changes into a nice, new asphalt road.
PS: it is also definitely recommended to go via 'Le Batty' to the top. This is a beautiful/steep variant.
De poort tot de Ardennen zoals ze deze klim wel eens noemen. En die titel klopt ook wel: Zodra je hier bovenkomt ligt de weg naar Remouchamps etc. werkelijk open, waarna het echte Ardennen-klimplezier kan beginnen.
Deze klim is dan ook een ideale heuvel om de klimbenen al wat warm te draaien: een 4-tal km aan een erg egaal stijgingspercentage van +/- 5-6％, een echte loper dus.
Het wegdek is niet overal even goed, met name de eerste 1,5 km is voor verbetering vatbaar, maar ongeveer halverwege verandert dat in een mooie, nieuwe geasfalteerde weg.
PS: het is ook zeker eens aan te raden om via 'Le Batty' naar de top te gaan. Dit is een mooie/stijle variant.

Heel leuke klim! Mooie gelijkmatige hellingsgraad. Absoluut een aanrader als je in de buurt bent en geen fan bent van de +10％ klimmen.
