It is my favourite mountain, when I am in the vicinity I simply have to conquer it, as it is the mountain that is most difficult to ride on a road bike. The approach via Guejar Sierra is also fantastic and very quiet. It is very weather-dependent. Down in Granada you start at 35 degrees and when you get to the top it's maybe 10. So you should always have something warm with you for the descent. It is highly advisable to follow the weather forecast, as the climate up there is always tricky... read more

We climbed this beast in ideal conditions - warm to cool temperatures and little or no wind. The climb to the barrier is manageable. A water stop at the petrol station is a nice break as is food at before the barrier. After the barrier the last 3km is a walk - it’s a bit of a duathlon and pilgrimage!

Very nice even climb. The road gets worse especially from 3000m altitude with the last km being really Gravel road. Last 200m to the summit is not rideable, so on foot to the top. In September, weather conditions are usually good.

Zeer mooie gelijkmatige klim.

Spectacular climb that every cyclist should do once in his life, you have to be well supplied with water and food because it is scarce on the climb, and from the Hoya de la Mora the asphalt is more deteriorated to the point that the last two kilometres are not recommended to do with a road bike.

Beautiful, very steep above the lake and tiring in the heat... The last part has a bad road surface, but is doable if you are a little careful.

Of the 5 rides we have done so far, only one has had absolutely perfect weather. It's good that you can also follow the route virtually, because I have recorded it for Kinimap: https://videos.kinomap.com/de/watch/qpnt9m
