Definitely a bucket list climb. Road surface quite poor but zero traffic. Its a real tough climb, there are markers every 500m and the gradient rarely lets up. I didnt have the balls to go down the other side on the the unsealed part - next time. The descent is almost as hard as the climb !! do it, you'll have it to yourself :)

I rode this driveway after Zoncolan, in my opinion more difficult but definitely nicer, the views at the top are spectacular, the driveway demanding on the route max 15% asphalt of poor quality but no problem to ride a road bike, I sincerely recommend.

The most famous climb ever run in the Giro, where the never is to be understood literally. Planned in 2011, it was skipped due to the alleged dangerousness of the following descent, thus gaining perhaps even more fame than if the race had actually passed there.

The altimetry pretty much says it all: past the bridge over the Vaglina stream, the road begins to climb steadily with gradients of around 10%, and with very few exceptions will remain in the 8-13% range until 2.5 km from the summit. Here begins the toughest section, 1,500 metres with an average gradient of 13%, and peaks around 18-20%: keeping something in the tank is essential to reach the summit.

The asphalt is in excellent condition up to Tualis: from there onwards it becomes gritty, but still doable by road bike. Getting off this one requires caution, as the road is very narrow, but bikes and cars behave with civility.

The Crostis deserves a leg of the tour ...across the peaks and down to Ravascletto

A tough but steady climb, so if you have the legs and find the right rhythm you can enjoy it. The views and landscapes are spectacular, much more so than the more famous Zoncolan.
Tackled in June 2025. The asphalt is not very good, but still largely manageable even on a road bike.
At the top you can take the "strada delle vette" a 6km stretch almost flat on dirt road and from here descend towards Ravascletto retracing the route "cancelled" from the Giro di Italia.
The dirt road is not very good, especially in the first part. The asphalt for Ravascletto is quite tanned: to be approached with care.

Very long and hard, but as much as it is hard it is also stunning. Beautiful climb and landscape. The tarmac is quite bad and going down the same way you could really feel it. One of the toughest climbs around. I would still rank the zoncolan as harder but we're not that far off!

A very tough climb in a spectacular and varied environment: from mid-mountain with its villages to a majestic fir forest and ending in a pleasant alpine environment.
The ascent is absolutely steady, which is both the greatest difficulty (not a single moment's respite is allowed, except for the few metres where you cross the villages, which are all in the first half anyway) and a help, because if you manage to pick up your pace in the first few ramps you will "only" have to continue in this way to the summit.
Road surface at the time of my ascent (29/07/2023) in a very bad state in the second half, if you descend this slope you must exercise extreme caution.
If you love big climbs and high mountains, this climb is for you

Magnificent, but mercilessly difficult climb in an oasis of peace and quiet. You experience the feeling of being alone in the world during almost the entire climb. However, the climb is murderous as it rarely drops below double percentages. The steepest percentages (above 15%) you will encounter in the last kilometers in a series of beautiful, short hairpin bends.
Although unknown, remote and in the shadow of Monte Zoncolan, this is a real must. I estimate that it is at least as difficult as the infamous Zoncolan, maybe even higher...
