Eindelijk, het wegdek is helemaal opnieuw geasfalteerd (ik heb 'm op 13 Juli 2025 afgedaald): prachtig strak asfalt. De zuidkant vanuit Fairon is wel mooier (met 2 haarspeldbochten) en prachtige uitzichten.
Coast used by the TRW this year ( 2024 ) with variations in its ％ but the setting is beautiful if you take the trouble to turn your head, too bad for the few more degraded sections.

The Cote de Géromont reveals itself to the cyclist in different forms when starting out from the cosy village centre of Comblain-au-Pont. The first encounter is not easy because this "Vieille Chera" is so badly paved that the 11％, which is the steepest part of the climb anyway, is actually steeper. Fortunately, after a sharp bend, you soon find yourself on the well-paved Rue de la Carrière, where the percentages gradually decrease. Just when it is getting a bit boring, the road surface becomes a bit rougher again when leaving Géromont. The good rhythm you had on that excellent tarmac road is now lost, especially as the percentages rise again. One consolation: the worse the road, the nicer the surroundings, because with the disappearance of the houses, you get a nice view of the Ourthe valley on your left.
Vertrekkende vanuit de gemoedelijke dorpskern van Comblain-au-Pont, openbaart de Cote de Géromont zich in verschillende gedaanten aan de fietser. De eerste kennismaking valt niet mee, want die “Vieille Chera” is dusdanig slecht geasfalteerd dat die 11％ - sowieso al het steilste stuk van de hele beklimming – in werkelijkheid steiler aanvoelt. Na een haarscherpe bocht beland je gelukkig al snel op de prima geasfalteerde Rue de la Carrière, waarvan de percentages ook nog eens geleidelijk aan slinken. Net als het wat saai dreigt te worden, wordt het wegdek bij het verlaten van Géromont weer wat ruwer. Het goede ritme dat je te pakken had op die prima asfaltbaan ben je nu wel kwijt, temeer ook de percentages opnieuw omhoog gaan. Een troost: Hoe erbarmelijker de weg, hoe mooier de omgeving, want met het verdwijnen van de huizen krijg je aan de linkerkant een mooi uitzicht op de Ourthe-vallei cadeau.
A climb in stages. Steeper parts alternate with parts where you can use a bigger gear and even sometimes a bit downhill. But what bothered me the most was the terrible road surface. Fortunately the descent is a bit better.
Een klim in etages. Steilere stukjes wisselen af met stukken waar je een groter verzet kan malen en zelfs af en toe een stukje bergaf. Maar wat mij het meest stoorde was het erbarmelijke wegdek. Gelukkig ligt de afdaling er iets beter bij.
On this side, the road surface near the top is not great, but for climbing it doesn't bother you. On the left side you have a beautiful view over the rocks along the Ourthe. Descent on the other side is good to do.
From Fairon, the track towards La Rock is recommended - runs slightly up in a beautiful setting.
