The first 20 kilometres are hilly and easy to do. From the tunnel, which you are not allowed to enter as a bike, it really starts: it doesn't go below 6% and especially the part next to the tunnel I found very tricky: it doesn't seem too bad, but it is steep and you can easily reach 12%. After the tunnel, it is flat for a while until the hairpins begin. From there, it is a beautiful ride, views back over the valley and about 10 hairpins until you reach the junction towards Lech.... read more

From there, it is a beautiful ride, views back over the valley and about 10 hairpins until you reach the junction towards Lech. Don't be surprised though: those last few kilometres are still far from flat.

The tarmac is generally in excellent condition and the road is not really busy because the through traffic takes the tunnel.

Probably many people choose the Silvretta Hochalpstrasse, which with a diversion also goes from say Bludenz to Landeck, but this is a nice alternative if you want to ride a less challenging alpine col.

Nice to have done but only feels like a serious col from Stuben. There you go into the hairpin bends where you get beautiful views in return. The piece to the top is also beautiful. Asphalt was soon. Traffic, not too busy. I was there in 2012.

Asfalt was straks. Verkeer, niet te druk. Ik was er in 2012.
