Highly recommended. The section before the official climb is perhaps even more enjoyable than the actual climb. Up with this route and back on the main road proved ideal. Good and grit-free tarmac. Very little traffic. Morning shade. Everything top notch. I would advise against going over the main road to the start of the climb so always take this route.... read more

Always a rideable climb, but not to be underestimated due to its length. This variant is very beautiful and above all free of traffic. Always beautiful asphalt. Water points up to the junction with the Colle road (at the junction there is the last one), then up to the summit I didn't see any more, except at the Praz D'Arc refreshment point about 7 km from the summit, but you have to go inside. The descent, on the other hand, I did it all on the main road. Perfect asphalt and plenty of space to tackle it safely.

I would advise against going over the main road to the start of the climb so always take this route.

Enorme aanrader.

Very nice ride. Unlike the route on through main road (the SS27), this route mainly goes on quiet back roads with relatively little traffic in the first part. The route is slightly longer than the direct alternative, but a lot quieter, more varied and offers beautiful views. Only after 21 kilometres do you get onto the SS27 and then it's only a few kilometres until you leave the busy main road again at the junction for the tunnel. The last part of the climb goes through fantastic mountain scenery. The climb is long (+/- 38Km), but nowhere overly steep. If you dose well and stay patient, it is doable and the panorama is fantastic. I did the climb on a weekday in early July. Can imagine that the pass can be crowded with motorbikes on weekends/high season. However, was not the case with me. Highly recommended as far as I am concerned.

Zeer mooie rit.

Not a hard climb but interminable. The views more than repay patience and effort.
Very busy in the first part then, after the tunnel, it is a little quieter.
Very few tunnels and perfect road surface.
Possibility of refreshments at the pass and along the route, several fountains for water bottles.
Parked cars at the cable car forecourt for Pila.

Pochissime gallerie e fondo stradale perfetto.

One of the most beautiful rides this year. Long, requiring patience. It is quite busy until the diversions with the tunnel. From there you turn right, the gradient increases and remains fairly steady between 6/8%. It feels like you have arrived when you see the ANAS house, but there are still 4km and 300m to go from there. Above is beautiful, there are a couple of refreshment points. The lake is very beautiful

Like so many big cols, it is especially very busy with cars and motorbikes. Above the tunnel, it gets a bit quieter and you can enjoy the cycling a bit more. Especially the length is in your legs at the end. At the top, it is a fairground. Typical case of "you want to have cycled it once, but there are much nicer climbs in the neighbourhood".
