It is a climb with the sting in the tail. The descent in the middle provides a bit of rest after the first steep part. On nice days the forest can be crowded with hikers who can form an extra obstacle on the last steep part.

Recently I cycled the blue loop of the RVV. Nice loop in a beautiful region. The whole environment breathes cycling. Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Koppenberg, Mariaborrestraat, Stationberg, Taaienberg, Kruisberg and Kluisberg on the menu.
I do have some reservations about the scoring of these hills on the site here. The koppenberg for example, with a steep part of 22%, constantly on cobblestones where there are no possibilities to escape to paths on the side ... I don't know any hill in the Flemish Ardennes that is more difficult. Comparing the mont de l'enclus (even with the spur) with the koppenberg ... Making speed on cobblestones or asphalt is different anyway. The mythical character of the koppenberg also makes it the number one slope in the region for me!
