It's the quietest route (with the northern slope coming from Liepvre) to access Haut-Koenigsbourg), except for the last two km (which are common to all 4 access routes) and which are always very busy (500,000 visitors a year!).
The route is easy because the road is longer than that via Kintzheim and St-Hippolyte), and mostly through woodland.
C'est la route la plus calme (avec le versant nord venant de Liepvre) pour accéder au Haut-Koenigsbourg), sauf les deux derniers km (qui sont communs aux 4 voies d'accès) et qui sont toujours très fréquentées (500000 visiteurs par an !).
Le parcours est facile car la route est plus longue que par Kintzheim et St-Hippolyte), la plupart du temps en forêt.
Nice climb with varying gradients. Catering in Thannenkirch halfway up and a terrace at the top. Fine views over Alsace with a view of the Black Forest. You can't really see Haut Konigsbourg castle very well. A visit there is really worthwhile. We had started from Bergeheim and returned over Saint Hippolyte.
Leuke klim met wisselende stijgingspercentages. Horeca in Thannenkirch halverwege en een terrasje boven. Fraai uitzicht over de Elzas met zicht op het Zwarte Woud. Het kasteel Haut Konigsbourg zie je niet echt goed. Een bezoek er aan is echt de moeite waard. Wij warenvanuit Bergeheimgestart en over Saint Hippolyte teruggekomen.
Nice and quiet direct start in Bergheim from the roundabout. Very few cars and a nice running climb. Along the way, a nice terrace in Thannenkirch near the hotel.
Lekker rustig direct beginnen in Bergheim vanaf de rotonde. Zeer weinig auto’s en een mooi lopende klim. Onderweg een mooi terras in Thannenkirch bij het hotel.
Very nice climb and a fine runner to then arrive at a beautiful view up to the highway, and if you drive back from the Vosges you will be able to salute the castle one last time. Fine memories of this climb, very peaceful too.
Erg leuke klim en een fijne loper om dan aan te komen bij een prachtige uitzicht tot aan de snelweg, en als je van de vogezen terug rijdt zul je het kasteel nog een laatste keer kunnen groeten. Fijne herinneringen aan deze klim, erg rustig ook.
Very nice climb. Even on the Ascension weekend, the stretch up to a few km before Koenigsbourg was quite quiet. Last stretch to Koenigsbourg was very busy with cars's and full parking. So cycled straight on and took the beautiful descent to Liepvre.
Erg mooie klim. Zelfs in het Hemelvaartweekend was het stuk tot een paar km voor Koenigsbourg vrij rustig. Laatste stuk naar Koenigsbourg was erg druk met auto's en volle parkeerplaats. Dus gelijk door gefietst en de prachtige afdaling naar Liepvre genomen.
