Wonderful climb, the last part unpaved completes it. I find it the easiest way to get to the tri-border point.

I had already given the ascent of the Vaalserberg via the Keltenstrasse 5 stars but this one is actually much nicer. In the beginning, after having turned left at the T-junction, there is a long straight stretch of altitude gain. Then a right turn and immediately a beautiful panorama unfolds on both sides of the road, of the Aachener Wald, the Vaalserberg, Vaals and Vaalserquartier. The road climbs only slightly here, so it's easy to enjoy the view. At the houses (approximately) straight ahead and you come to the same route as via the Keltenstrasse, a nice winding road up with another steep part and at the end an (almost flat) gravel part. The gravel is a bit coarse, but good hard (except for some small muddy pieces), so good to cycle.
