Truly the climb of the region! It winds (like its name suggests) beautifully up a carved marl wall. I think it looks heavier on the profile than it is, probably because it is very regular and you can take the outside in the turns. Definitely do it and while you're in the area make a round with the Cote de Saint-Pierre and the Hallembaye!

Ik vind hem op het profiel zwaarder lijken dan hij is, waarschijnlijk omdat hij erg regelmatig is en je in de bochten goed de buitenkant kan nemen. Zeker doen en maak als je toch in de buurt bent een rondje met de Cote de Saint-Pierre en de Hallembaye!

Fun and winding climb with good asphalt and several hairpin turns. The road meanders steadily up through green surroundings and stays fairly constant climbing with no real resting points. The rhythm and turns make the climb feel playful yet solid. At the top you emerge onto the plateau where it flattens out briefly and you can roll out.
Leuke en kronkelende klim met goed asfalt en meerdere haarspeldbochten. De weg slingert gestaag omhoog door een groene omgeving en blijft vrij constant klimmen zonder echte rustpunten. Door het ritme en de bochten voelt de klim speels maar toch stevig aan. Boven kom je uit op het plateau waar het even vlak wordt en je kan uitrollen.

Yes a tight layer of asphalt is better but the concrete slabs are not that bad, especially when you consider that in this one of Wallonia it could be much worse.
Road itself is very nice, you constantly turn from left to right at percentages that you certainly feel but never get so high that it becomes raking. View on top is ok, mainly an agricultural plateau.

Weg zelf is erg leuk, je draait continue van links naar rechts op percentages welke je zeker goed voelt maar nooit zo hoog worden dat het harken wordt. Uitzicht bovenop is ok, vooral een agrarisch plateau.

Lange tijd niet gedaan, maar het bolde echt totaal niet. Grove betonplaten. Kortom: ellende. Als ik hier in de gemeenteraad zou zitten zou ik de weg compleet vernieuwen met een of een charmant bedje van kasseien ofwel een biljartlaken aan asfalt.
Voor nu, ik zou voortaan doorrijden tot de Rue de Garage om zo in Eben-Emael te geraken. Het positieve aan deze Slingerberg is wel dat je bovenop en daarna een heel mooie omgeving doorfietst. Al met al is het toch weer een klimmetje, en dat is al positief.

Nice climb with lots of bends from the Albert Canal over the road to Zichen-Zussen-Bolder. The only annoying thing is that the road consists of concrete slabs that don't fit together nicely. Two-thirds of the climb is steeply uphill. Only after the last one to the right does it flatten out.

Starting from the Meuse, you ride uphill on fairly rough concrete. Coming up on a plateau with usually some wind makes the climb in your ride with friends an extra challenge or opportunity to pull through.
De bochtige wegen (die overigens net niet het predikaat haarspeldbocht verdienen) maken deze klim erg fijn & met weinig klimmetjes in Vlaanderen te vergelijken. Vanaf de Maas vertrekkend rijd je op vrij ruwe beton naar boven. Bovenkomend op een plateau met doorgaans wel wat wind maakt de klim in jouw rit met vrienden een extra uitdaging of mogelijkheid om door te trekken.

Nice little mountain, especially because of the view and the surroundings. The road surface is not great, but for this time we don't care. They once did a time trial on it in the ronde van de lage landen. That made for some nice images. It is not the most difficult one in the area. Still, it is not to be sneezed at and is preferred over just about everything else in the area.
Leuk bergje, vooral door het uitzicht en de omgeving. Het wegdek is niet geweldig, maar voor deze keer boeit dat ons niet. Ze hebben er ooit een tijdrit over laten rijden in de ronde van de lage landen. Dat leverde mooie beelden op. Het is niet de lastigste uit de omgeving. Maar toch is ze niet te versmaden en geniet ze de voorkeur op zowat alles in de buurt.

Prachtige zeer slingerende klim vanaf het Albertkanaal door een dalletje omhoog. Het grove beton maakt wel dat het wat zwaarder aanvoelt maar de omgeving is inspirerend genoeg voor een mooie rit. Soms aardig uitzicht op de brug van Kanne. In het begin (bij het bord "slingerende weg") is een wat verborgen voormalige WO2-oorlogsbegraafplaats wat als monument behouden is gebleven.

Mooie klim die zwaarder lijkt dan hij is, mede door het stroeve beton dat de weg vormt. Kenmerk is de slingerende weg omhoog. Bekend ook van vele wielerkoersen in Vlaams Limburg. Beetje zoeken om aan de voet te geraken vanaf de brug over het Albertkanaal.

Super cool and beautiful climb that lives up to its name. From the Albert Canal to the Kempen Plateau there's no more idyllic road. The last curves are hidden behind trees, but the rest you can already see from the foot of the climb. At the end there's a slight but straight spur and you're at the top!
Super toffe en mooie klim die zijn naam alle eer aandoet. Vanaf het Albertkanaal tot op het Kempens Plateau is er geen meer idyllische weg mogelijk. De laatste bochten zijn verscholen achter bomen, maar de rest zie je reeds vanaf de voet van de klim. Op het einde nog een lichte maar rechte uitloper en je bent boven!

In alleril werd toen een geïmproviseerde tijdrit georganiseerd op de Slingerberg. Zo leerde ook televisiekijkend Vlaanderen de Slingerberg kennen. Gewonnen door Kragh Andersen overigens...

This climb was also in the first kilometer of the time trial of the Binckbank Tour 2020.
Alpe d'Huez van de lage landen. De weg slingert naar boven met z'n 10 bochten, een helling als deze vindt je in de omgeving niet. Je begint onder aan het kanaal en rijdt over de betonplaten tot boven in het veld waar je dan weer veel verschillende richtingen uit kan gaan om je rit verder te zetten. Deze klim zat ook in de eerste kilometer van de tijdrit van de Binckbank tour van 2020.

Very nice piece of road, something you can't find anywhere else in the area. It is a concrete road, so it does not run very well. Whether that's because of the slope or the road surface I wonder every time. I've ridden it several times now and every time I enjoy taking corner after corner.
Heel leuk stukje weg, iets wat je in de omgeving nergens anders kan vinden. Het is een betonbaan, dus heel goed loopt het niet.
