Nice climb when you're in the area. Has quite a few tough bits in it. Excellent for training.

Leuke beklimming wanneer je in de buurt bent. Zitten best een paar pittige stukjes in. Uitstekend om op te trainen.

At the start of the climb, you wonder where those points come from. Further on, the asphalt is replaced by rough cobbles over a stretch, which does make cycling harder but doesn't really make the gradient any bigger. The latter changes when you pass the entrance to the campsite because then you see a nice slope stretching out in front of you, and again with (fine) tarmac besides. Just push on and by the side road you're at the top.

A great alternative to avoid the busy Grebbeberg if you want to cycle towards Amerongen/ Doorn and don't want to ride all the way along the provincial road. As soon as you come off the roundabout you see it laid out and what you see is what it is. You just have to speed up a bit and you are there. If you then turn right on the motorway, you will not only get a nice downhill but also a beautiful piece through the woods. Then you can take the Defensieweg or go straight on to the main road.

One of the more beautiful climbs around Rhenen. You start in the open landscape and see in front of you the wooded Utrecht Ridge. The bike path is not too steep in the first part, but consists of rough cobblestones. That makes it a little bit harder. Roughly at the halfway point, it changes to asphalt and follows the last steep part in the forest. If you want to avoid the ugly climb of the Grebbenberg and a little detour is not a problem, then this is an excellent alternative.
