Long steady steep on a private single track road. Can be very windy higher up. Traffic rare. Fantastic views. Sheep are only danger. Gate ⅓ way up. Please close. Superb climb.
Tough climb with many steep sections over 15% that are 500m or so in length. There are a couple of false flat even a little downhill to enable recovery before steep parts again. The weather conditions up near the top were very different to at the start. I would advise to always take a jacket/gilet for the descent even if it's quite warm at the bottom.
Brilliant climb with a good sense of pacing as you go as you can see the road ahead. Brilliant on a clear day but almost always windy - be careful on the descent with deeper wheels.
What a challenging and fun climb. The weather was sunny and extremely windy which made the exposed summit particularly difficult, and made for a exciting descent. The climb is long with extremely steep sections happening at frequent intervals. However, frequent changes in gradient gives much needed recovery time.

A challenging climb best done on a sunny day when you can appreciate the stunning views. The road is very quiet as it just serves the radar station at the top. There are long stretches of 15% to 20% gradients so bring your climbing gears with you. Take care over the cattle grid near the top as the bars are quite widely spaced! Don’t forget a wind jacket for the descent - this is the Pennines after all.
