Dlouhé Stráně from Kouty nad Desnou

I climbed Dlouhé stráně from both sides during the Czech Tour in 2025 — a very special experience, with the roadsides still lined with race furniture from the event.

On any other day, though, the surface is just as excellent, and traffic is minimal thanks to limited motorized access. The gradient increases gradually; the real climb begins after turning left and passing the lower reservoir. There’s a marked viewpoint on the tarmac — great for a short pause and photo stop, kudos for that!

Note the one-way regulation near the top and the restricted access to the upper reservoir (although, on race day, plenty of cyclists were riding around it anyway).

The descent is fantastic, but keep an eye out for the stop sign at the bottom

Wonderful ascent to visit espacially in spring. Not even one car on the whole road, beauftiful environment. Sometimes there's really strong wind on the top.

Considerably easier climb than that from Loučna, but still good training. Surface is perfect and the road is wide. There are a few tight corners and remember there is little road traffic there. Actually better for descent.
