Rarely climbed from this side (<400 times on Strava as of date), but amazing to ride if you're in your element.
Away from the busy roads, you ride a completely quiet small forest road, with steep gradients, only to suddenly arrive at the ski villages and lifts, and restaurant to get yourself a well deserved coffee.
The descent via Hauteluca back to Beaufort over wide roads was really relaxt as well.

An alternative is to start from Villard-sur-doron e.g. if you come from Beaufort (after Cormet de Roselend or Col du Pré), you only need to go straigt in the village as the D123 turns right
