In my opinion, the climb is very different from the profile: First, there is a section of about 200 metres over 10 per cent at the start, then the ascent flattens out a little until you turn off for the first time. After leaving the built-up area, there is also a descent of approx. 300 metres at approx. 4 per cent. In my opinion, the climb is particularly attractive because of the variety, as you have to contend with changing percentages in the built-up area and find constant percentages with hairpin bends and good tarmac in the forest.
Der Anstieg ist meiner Meinung nach deutlich anders als es das Profil hergibt: Zunächst gibt es zum Start einen Teil von ca. 200 Meter über 10 Prozent, anschließend flacht der Anstieg ein wenig ab, bis man das erste Mal abbiegt. Nachdem man das bebaute Gebiet verlassen hat gibt es außerdem eine Abfahrt von ca. 300 Metern bei ca. 4 Prozent. Der Anstieg ist meiner Meinung nach vor allem durch die Abwechslung attraktiv, da man im bebauten Bereich mit wechselnden Prozentsätzen zu kämpfen hat und im Wald konstante Prozentsätze mit Haarnadelkurven und gutem Aspahlt vorfindet.
An alternative start for the climb to Roetgen because you end up near the railway and the Vennbahn which is also the road to Roetgen. The climb itself is nice and varied with an approach route along two castles, then a nice and steep turn up after which the climb is more relaxed but with varying percentages along a nice old courtyard and further up between houses. Few views. Good tarmac except for the approach route where (nice and flat) concrete strips run between the cobblestones.
Een alternatief begin voor de klim naar Roetgen omdat je bij het spoor en de Vennbahn uit komt waar ook de weg naar Roetgen langs loopt. De klim zelf is lekker gevarieerd met een aanrijdroute langs twee kastelen, daarna een lekker pittige slinger omhoog waarna de klim wat relaxter maar wel met wisselende percentages langs een mooi oud hofje en verder tussen huizen omhoog loopt. Weinig uitzicht. Wel prima asfalt behalve bij de aanrijdroute waar (mooi vlakke) betonstroken tussen de kasseien lopen.
