Beautiful and longer climb of almost 5½ kilometres from Raeren to Petergensfeld/Roetgen. The climb starts in Raeren at café Zahlepohl. In Raeren, you then take the first road to the right (Platzstrasse) to then also take the first left (Roetgenerstrasse). The first 2 kilometres are nothing more/less than false flat, followed by a steeper stretch of half a kilometre. After this, it then flattens out to false flat again over 1½ kilometres. From the junction with the Vennbahn it does go up steep... read more

In my opinion, the climb is very different from the profile: First, there is a section of about 200 metres over 10 per cent at the start, then the ascent flattens out a little until you turn off for the first time. After leaving the built-up area, there is also a descent of approx. 300 metres at approx. 4 per cent. In my opinion, the climb is particularly attractive because of the variety, as you have to contend with changing percentages in the built-up area and find constant percentages with hairpin bends and good tarmac in the forest.

An alternative start for the climb to Roetgen because you end up near the railway and the Vennbahn which is also the road to Roetgen. The climb itself is nice and varied with an approach route along two castles, then a nice and steep turn up after which the climb is more relaxed but with varying percentages along a nice old courtyard and further up between houses. Few views. Good tarmac except for the approach route where (nice and flat) concrete strips run between the cobblestones.
