My first pass and it was wonderful! Unfortunately, the motorbikes that don't drive considerately are extremely annoying.
Best long climb in the Valsugana area, more beautiful and longer than e.g. Paranotta or Monte Bondone. The start is fine to do, recover in the middle between the cows, the last kilometres the toughest and the summit really feels like a summit too.
What was perhaps the most difficult thing for me was the length, 23 km is a long way if you have already done 120 km before. Refilling water at the last available fountain, which is the only one I've seen, about 10 km from the start. On summer weekends, watch out for motorcyclists, a lot of them pass you at high speed, especially on the last few km where the road is quite narrow. The descent towards Molina, in the first 10 km is a free fall, be careful to use the brakes only at the end of the curve and not to keep them tight all the time. Even in summer, take cover for the descent, it is a forest area that can be very very cold. A certain amount of physical preparation is required to get to the top, for the vast majority of human beings it will take at least 2 hours of suffering and mental tenacity, reserve your strength for the last few kilometres, luckily (or not) the pass is only visible when there are only a few metres to go.
Beautiful climb that goes up and up... let's say that up to -6km you warm up very well for the final part which is undoubtedly the hardest even if the hairpin bends help. If you do it in the summer (like me 26/6) do it in the morning ... it is very exposed to the sun and the afternoon or the hottest hours could add a lot of suffering. The wind at the top is guaranteed but you don't reach a plateau, i.e. there is a peak and you descend immediately. As soon as you descend (200-300 metres) there is a nice hut where you can refresh yourself
Good climb. Challenging for me because it was tackled the day after the Menador climb. Long but with some easy stretches which, however, are paid for by some ramps with gradients of more than 15% for a few hundred metres. Beautiful views and the last section is also exciting and challenging due to the altitude. Highly recommended
Bella salita. Consigliatissima
Steady climb. The profile on this site does not tell the whole story. In total 23 km of climbing and over the whole climb parts with percentages in double figures. The last 7 km are the most beautiful and actually the best to do because they are more regular. Nice tarmac.
Stevige klim. Mooi asfalt.
Very nice climb with changing views of forest, mountains and alpine meadows. Last few kilometres are indeed tough, but if you have divided your strength well, it is easy to do. Also as a descent this side is worthwhile. Many good running pieces on nice tarmac and a few nice viewpoints to take a break.
Wonderful climb. Absolutely must do when in the area.
Little traffic on the way and the tarmac was good.
Prachtige klim.
Last Saturday I cycled together with Loulou Patrick Strong. What a beautiful climb this is. A long climb with very steep parts, so divide your forces well.
I had trained a lot in recent years so I came up fairly easily and overtook people who passed me earlier on the climb. Proof of a good distribution of forces. Last kilometers are narrow and steep and super beautiful. So enjoy it.
The next day on the Passo Manghen hiked, just as'a fantastic experience. Top climb, highly recommended!
Topklim, echte aanrader!
An unknown giant! In the Giro this climb is not often used, but this is one of the best. Long, with a not too difficult start. But the devil is in the tail. And not even the percentages are painful, but especially the changeability. Flat pieces are alternated with steep peaks. You never really get into a rhythm. And then the altitude comes into play. I used the descent to see something of the beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended, but prepare well in advance for what is to come!
From Bolzano I had to make a long (flat) run to be able to climb the Manghenpass from the south side. I can be brief about it, it is me d'r though. Like everything in the Dolomites it is irregular and at times quite steep. The average does not tell the whole story, with peaks of 14-15%.
1.5h later I couldn't reach the top because I was stopped by 2 police officers. All the cool racecars that I slowly approached could have told this already, but there was a rally on the other side of the mountain. They kindly asked me to find an alternative route, which meant making a detour of about 120km(!!!). In the end we arrived back home in the dark with 230km on the counter, but we still couldn't cross off the Manghenpass.
