A superb climb that gradually increases in difficulty. A false flat climb after Dienne, fairly gentle gradients after Lavignerie and two really steep final kilometres! The scenery is superb, with a fine view of the Brèche de Rolland. There's a restaurant at the summit and breathtaking views over the various valleys. The must-do pass in the Massif Central
Very nice climb, not so difficult as the difficulty increases.
We climb up the Dienne valley as far as Lavigerie, where the gradient steepens to 5/6%, but it's a steady slope where we find our rhythm. After that, there's a good flat area after the Col de Serre, and after a short warning shot over the Col d'Eylac, there's only 2 km of really steady going (but on good tarmac) with the finish in sight. So it's very doable.
Nice tough climb with fantastic views over the volcanoes of the Massif Central. Definitely worth it.
