Gevarieerde verbindingsklim die stevig begint, daarna afvlakt en richting het einde weer aantrekt. Mooie, rustige omgeving, al kan het op de grotere weg wat drukker worden.
In Vijlen, descend Vijlenstraat from the junction at restaurant Uit de Kunst. At the farm on the left, the climb starts and at the first junction keep left towards Epen. Where you turn right follows (until a white house at the edge of the forest) the steepest part of the climb. After this it flattens out but you have to keep pedalling to get to Rugweg at the top of the climb.
in Vijlen daal je vanaf de splitsing bij restaurant Uit de Kunst de Vijlenstraat af. Bij de boerderij aan de linkerkant begint de klim en op de eerste splitsing hou je links aan richting Epen. Waar je rechtsaf gaat volgt (tot een wit huis aan de bosrand) het steilste deel van de klim. Hierna vlakt het af maar moet je wel blijven trappen om tot de Rugweg op de top van de klim te komen.

Een leuke klim met een mooi uitzicht. Over een rustige kleine weg rijd je door een open landschap richting het bos. Ondanks dat het nooit in de dubbele cijfers komt qua stijgingspercentage, voelde het voor mij toch best pittig. Ik had het gevoel wel harder te willen, maar niet te kunnen. Zodra je het bos in rijdt heb je het zwaarste gehad.

Na een korte vanuit Vijlen gaat de klim meteen van start en deze blijft flink stijgen. Mooie omgeving met fraai uitzicht naar links. Het witte huis aan de bosrand is een mooi mikpunt. Daarna wordt het in het bos vlakker. Uiteindelijk gaat de klim linksaf, met nog een klein steil stukje. Als je rechtdoor gaat volgt de mooie afdaling met haarspeldbochten naar Buitenlust.
Nice climb in beautiful surroundings. Road surface is good. And even though it is not really hard anywhere, you cycle uphill and you feel that automatically. For the lesser climbers: go a bit lighter in the first kilometres. That little less effort pays off in the rest of the course.
Mooie klim in een prachtige omgeving. Wegdek is prima. En ook al is het nergens echt heel zwaar, je fietst bergop en dat voel je vanzelf. Voor de mindere klimgeiten: pak in de eerste kilometer een tandje lichter. Dat beetje minder inspanning betaalt zich terug in het verdere verloop.

Deze klim moet je niet onderschatten. Er zitten namelijk in de eerste helft redelijk steile stukken in. Ipv linksaf vind ik de afdaling naar Buitenlust interessanter.

Nowhere really heavy. Not as busy as for example the Camerig, but still regular traffic when the weather is nicer. After the fields you enter the beautiful Vijlenerbos, but here you hardly climb anymore.
Mooie geleidelijke klim vanuit het dal van de Lombergbeek onder Vijlen naar het Vijlenerbos. Je klimt al gauw door akkers, waarbij je als je om kijkt mooi uitzicht hebt op Vijlen. Nergens echt zwaar. Niet zo druk als bijv. de Camerig, maar toch regelmatig verkeer als het wat mooier weer is. Na de akkers rijd je het mooie Vijlenerbos in, maar hier klim je nauwelijks meer.
