Great runner up the Camerig, but a lot less beautiful than the other side. The difficulty lies in the long run to the top. It sucks all the energy out of your legs!
Prima loper de Camerig op, maar een stuk minder mooi dan van de andere kant. De moeilijkheid zit hem in de lange uitloper naar de top. Die zuigt alle energie uit je benen!
Very nice road, nice percentage and it really feels like climbing. Great if you live somewhere in the Netherlands where it is mostly very flat. Nice views too, and after the curve at the restaurant seriously steep. A challenge to get back up to speed after that.
Erg mooie weg, lekker percentage en het voelt echt als klimmen. Fijn als je ergens in Nederland woont waar het vooral erg vlak is. Mooie uitzichten ook, en na de bocht bij het restaurant serieus stijl. Een uitdaging om daarna weer op snelheid te komen.
Nice climb through a beautiful landscape with nice views and a real hairpin. At the restaurant at the top you might think you're there, but there the fun really starts with a pretty tough part (especially because there are already some altimeters in the legs). Then almost flat until you're really at the top.
Mooie klim door een fraai landschap met mooi uitzicht en met een echte hairpin. Bij het restaurant boven denk je misschien dat je er bent naar daar begint de fun pas echt met een behoorlijk pittig gedeelte (vooral omdat er al wat hoogtemeters in de benen zitten). Daarna vrijwel vlak tot je echt boven bent.
I started this climb quite unsuspecting. Only after a while I realized it is a long climb; you have no view of the end. Accidentally I forgot to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, so this one has to be on the list again. The steep part at the end can be quite dangerous, because the road is wide and you have no reference points. I saw afterwards that it was 12％...
Ik begon vrij nietsvermoedend aan deze klim. Pas na een tijdje had ik door dat het een lange klim is; je hebt geen zicht op het einde. Per ongeluk vergeten te genieten van de mooie omgeving, dus deze moet nog een keer op de lijst. Je kunt je redelijk verkijken op het steile stuk aan het eind, omdat de weg breed is en je geen referentiepunten hebt. Ik zag achteraf dat het 12％ was...
Nice climb with a real hairpin bend and through the beautiful Vijlenerbos where on the grass beside the road often traces of chewing wild boar can be seen. The climb starts in front of castle Vaalsbroek. It is a relatively wide and in good weather quite busy road. After ~700 m the road makes a turn to the left, and then 400 m further a hairpin to the right. At restaurant Lodge 7 you turn left again for a steep section into the woods. After 300 meters the trail flattens out and then gradually goes to the top (which is also the top of the Rugweg and the Camerig).
Mooie klim met een echte haarspeldbocht en door het mooie Vijlenerbos waar op het gras naast de weg vaak sporen van vroetende wilde zwijnen te zien zijn. De beklimming start voor kasteel Vaalsbroek. Het is een relatief brede en bij mooi weer vrij drukke weg. De weg maakt na ~700 m een bocht naar link , en dan 400 meter verder een haarspeld naar rechts. Bij restaurant Lodge 7 ga je dan weer links voor een steil stuk het bos in. Na 300 meter vlakt het stuk af en loopt dan geleidelijk door tot de top (die ook de top van de Rugweg en de Camerig is).
Camerig Oost is what we call this climb here. Easy to do, just have to be tough on the last bit.
Camerig Oost noemen we deze klim hier. Goed te doen, alleen even doorbijten op het laatste stukje.
Nice and fairly easy climb, only at the end a little bit more spicy. But the Camerig is still better.
Mooie en vrij gemakkelijke klim, alleen op het laatste ietsje pittiger. Maar de Camerig is toch nog beter.
this is in my training route and comes after the 3landenpunt i always go the shortest way, it are 2 short steep pieces
The experience of Ties is not unknown to me, indeed quite funny.
deze zit in mijn trainingsroute en komt na het 3landenpunt ik ga altijd de kortste weg, het zijn dan 2 korte steile stukken
maar is goed te doen. niet te groot trappen! de ervaring van Ties is mij niet onbekend , inderdaad best grappig.
Only after the restaurant Lodge 7 it gets difficult. After that we cycle slowly to 't Hijgend Hert on the Rugweg for flan and coffee :)
Alleen na het restaurant Lodge 7 wordt het lastig. Daarna rustig uit fietsen en naar 't Hijgend Hert op de Rugweg voor vlaai en koffie :)
@Ties if you have climbed the Eyserbosweg and the Kruisberg 3 times from the other side, it can really hurt.
@Ties als je dan al 3x de Eyserbosweg en de kruisberg vanaf de andere kan beklommen hebt kan hij flink pijn doen
Not a hard climb except for the last 300 meters.
When you're cycling with a group it's funny to stay in the back and then take the Lange Bosweg.
Just stand on the pedals and bang (seriously steep), on top of the Epenerbaan you have some time to catch your breath when the rest looks surprised and wonders when you passed them.
Vijlnerbos has more difficult variants than this one.
Geen zware klim op de laatste 300 meter na.
Als je met een groep aan het fietsen bent is het grappig om achterin te blijven en dan onopvallend de Lange Bosweg in te steken.
Even op de pedalen staan en knallen (serieus steil), heb je bovenop de Epenerbaan nog even tijd om op adem te komen als de rest verbaasd opkijkt en zich afvraagt wanneer je ze voorbij bent gekomen.
Vijlnerbos heeft zwaardere varianten dan deze.
