Difficult to judge this one, on the one hand, from a climbing perspective for anyone who has even a little practice at it, it obviously represents nothing at all. It's like driving up a viaduct, only 11 kilometres long. The scenery is beautiful and completely car-free, and there are also some nice views here and there.

You get from Spa to Stavelot via this route and the descent after it pretty quickly to get onto the 'real' work there.

Be aware that on the sections where the route 'dug in' lightly between two rock walls the road can be quite slippery if it has rained lightly earlier in the week, especially in autumn with leaves added. Indeed, because of no sun and motorised traffic, everything stays down.

Now I must add that besides being a cycling enthusiast, I am also a lover of railways and trains. So cycling along a former railway line like this Ligne 44 probably attracts me more than the average cyclist.

These kinds of 'climbs' are always an assassin anyway. You can't necessarily see visually that you are going up and actually want to ride faster continuously while your heart rate creeps up along unnoticed. Nice route to end up in Stavelot and Trois Ponts, though
