Really long climb but not very steep. During the summer ski season on the glacier there is a lot of trafic but mostly respectful to the cyclists.
Great climb and beautiful nature.

Great climb and beautiful nature.
Not too busy road, with some tunnels and not very scenic.
Very nice for training, full of hairpin bends and with varied but not extreme gradients.
Climb during the week to find less traffic, good choice.
Long climb but no impossible gradients.
Fantastic panorama in the last few kilometres.
Parked car in the Chatillon cemetery area.
Salita in settimana per trovare meno traffico, ottima scelta.
Salita lunga ma senza pendenze impossibili.
Fantastico il panorama negli ultimi km.
Parcheggiato auto in zona cimitero Chatillon.
Beautiful climb in a 'side street' of the Aosta Valley. This climb takes you to the Swiss-Italian border with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn.
The first 8 kilometres of the climb up to the village you have to go through. The road is quite wide here and the cars go very fast. There is not much to see either. After the village, the climb flattens out a bit and becomes more beautiful with every kilometre. It is also more difficult, because at 27 km, this is not a short climb. The further you get on the climb, the quieter it gets. The best part comes after the last long tunnel about five kilometres from the end. From here, you are treated to a magnificent view of the ridge, the Matterhorn and the glacier.
The end of the climb is in the extremely ugly ski village of Breuil-Cervina. However, there are numerous restaurants and a water point here.
I did this climb on a Sunday in September and did not need a jacket or arm pieces on the way back. Nevertheless, the climb goes up to well over 2000 metres. Perhaps it stays quite warm because it is not a mountain pass and the village is in the bowl of the mountain.
