Nice climb. I was expecting worse at times. It's doable at a steady pace. There are a few rough sections. Should be done in the morning as most of it is in the shade.

Unfortunately it was foggy during my ascent, but apparently the scenery at the top is magnificent. The only (major) drawback is that you have to take the dual carriageway to get there from Tarascon, or else make a diversion via the smaller roads, which will take up a lot of your energy.
La réputation du plateau de Beille suffit à lui-même. Le final est la partie la plus facile, dès lors que vous sortez de la forêt les pourcentages sont plus doux. Un raidard d'entrée vous met dans le rythme. Malheureusement j'ai eu du brouillard pour mon ascension, mais apparemment le paysage est magnifique au sommet. Seul (gros) bémol : vous devez emprunter la voie rapide pour y accéder depuis Tarascon, ou alors faire un détour par les petites routes qui vous prendra pas mal d'énergie.
Made for the Tour de France (the day before), some sections of road are new, and a good part of the climb is in the forest, in the shade until the gradients ease off and the trees disappear, leaving us to admire the landscape. Très belle montée, difficile car peu de moment de récupération, les pourcentages son assez homogènes, attention assez peu ombragée et bitume avec peu de rendement pas endroit. Une incontournable en Ariège.
I climbed this pass in the summer of 2020 and it was my first non-category pass. It's long and always steep except for 2 slight flats. You can only change gear on the summit and that's good. There's no real viewpoint on the ascent, as it's often in the trees, but at the top you get a magnificent view of the plateau and the Pyrenees.
J'ai gravi ce col à l'été 2020, il s'agissait de mon premier col hors catégorie. C'est long et toujours raide sauf 2 légers replat. On peut remettre du braquet uniquement sur le sommet et ça fait du bien. L'ascension se fait sans réel point de vue car assez souvent dans les arbres, mais au sommet vous gagnez une vue magnifique sur le plateau et les Pyrénées.
Beautiful climb with reasonable shade which is delicious, even though it is stated that this is a super quiet route ending in a large high empty plain.

A really great climb, I have cycled this climb several times so also last summer 2015 around the tour stage. The tarmac is beautiful, in some places there may be some split in the curves but this is negligible. In addition, there is just hardly any traffic because it is a dead end road. It can be oppressively hot in the Pyrenees, but really a beautiful area to cycle with many beautiful climbs in the area.
Een echt geweldige klim, ik heb deze klim meerdere keren gefietst zo ook afgelopen zomer 2015 rond de tour etappe. Het asfalt ligt er mooi bij, op enkele plekken ligt er misschien wat split in de bochten maar dit is te verwaarlozen. Daarnaast komt er gewoon er amper verkeer omdat het een doodlopende weg is. Het kan er wel drukkend warm zijn in de Pyreneeën, maar werkelijk een schitterende omgeving om te fietsen met veel mooie klimmetjes in de omgeving.
