Nice climb. I was expecting worse at times. It's doable at a steady pace. There are a few rough sections. Should be done in the morning as most of it is in the shade.

Belle ascension. Je m'attendais à pire ttfois. C'est faisable avec un rythme régulier. Qq portions rudes . A faire le matin car grande partie à l'ombre.

Nice climb to a car park where many walks start. When I drove up the climb, there were all cows along the car park.

Difficult from the foot. The slope eases slightly 4km from the summit, but if the wind is blowing you won't have the slightest respite.

The reputation of the Plateau de Beille speaks for itself. The final section is the easiest, and as soon as you leave the forest the gradients become gentler. A steep entry puts you into the rhythm. Unfortunately it was foggy during my ascent, but apparently the scenery at the top is magnificent. The only (major) drawback is that you have to take the dual carriageway to get there from Tarascon, or else make a diversion via the smaller roads, which will take up a lot of your energy.

Made for the Tour de France (the day before), some sections of road are new, and a good part of the climb is in the forest, in the shade until the gradients ease off and the trees disappear, leaving us to admire the landscape. Steady gradient and fairly easy pace if the gearing is right. Beautiful views from the summit and the few kilometres before it.

A very fine climb, difficult because there's little time to recover, the gradients are fairly even, with little shade and asphalt with little yield in places. A must-do in Ariège.

I climbed this pass in the summer of 2020 and it was my first non-category pass. It's long and always steep except for 2 slight flats. You can only change gear on the summit and that's good. There's no real viewpoint on the ascent, as it's often in the trees, but at the top you get a magnificent view of the plateau and the Pyrenees.

Beautiful climb with reasonable shade which is delicious, even though it is stated that this is a super quiet route ending in a large high empty plain.
only minus is the approach route on the main road to the exit to the climb, this is mega busy and is the main road from Andorra.

A really great climb, I have cycled this climb several times so also last summer 2015 around the tour stage. The tarmac is beautiful, in some places there may be some split in the curves but this is negligible. In addition, there is just hardly any traffic because it is a dead end road. It can be oppressively hot in the Pyrenees, but really a beautiful area to cycle with many beautiful climbs in the area.
