Made for the Tour de France (the day before), some sections of road are new, and a good part of the climb is in the forest, in the shade until the gradients ease off and the trees disappear, leaving us to admire the landscape. Steady gradient and fairly easy pace if the gearing is right. Beautiful views from the summit and the few kilometres before it.
fais à l'occasion du passage du tour de France (la veille), des portions de routes sont neuves, une bonne partie de la montée est dans le forêt, à l'ombre jusqu'à ce que les pourcentages se calament et que les arbres disparaissent pour nous laisser admirer le paysage. Pente régulière est rythme assez facile à prendre si le braquet est adapté. Belle vue au sommet et dans les quelques kilomètres qui la précèdent.
A very fine climb, difficult because there's little time to recover, the gradients are fairly even, with little shade and asphalt with little yield in places. A must-do in Ariège.
Très belle montée, difficile car peu de moment de récupération, les pourcentages son assez homogènes, attention assez peu ombragée et bitume avec peu de rendement pas endroit. Une incontournable en Ariège.
I climbed this pass in the summer of 2020 and it was my first non-category pass. It's long and always steep except for 2 slight flats. You can only change gear on the summit and that's good. There's no real viewpoint on the ascent, as it's often in the trees, but at the top you get a magnificent view of the plateau and the Pyrenees.
J'ai gravi ce col à l'été 2020, il s'agissait de mon premier col hors catégorie. C'est long et toujours raide sauf 2 légers replat. On peut remettre du braquet uniquement sur le sommet et ça fait du bien. L'ascension se fait sans réel point de vue car assez souvent dans les arbres, mais au sommet vous gagnez une vue magnifique sur le plateau et les Pyrénées.
Beautiful climb with reasonable shade which is delicious, even though it is stated that this is a super quiet route ending in a large high empty plain.
only minus is the approach route on the main road to the exit to the climb, this is mega busy and is the main road from Andorra.
Prachtige klim met redelijk veel schaduw wat heerlijk is , ook al is vermeld dat dit een super rustige route is eindigend op een grote hoge lege vlakte.
enige min puntje is de aanrij route over de grote weg tot de afslag naar de klim, deze is mega druk en is de doorgaande weg van af Andorra.
From Tarascon you can take a quieter road, sort of parallel to the road to Andorra. The D20 and then D120

A really great climb, I have cycled this climb several times so also last summer 2015 around the tour stage. The tarmac is beautiful, in some places there may be some split in the curves but this is negligible. In addition, there is just hardly any traffic because it is a dead end road. It can be oppressively hot in the Pyrenees, but really a beautiful area to cycle with many beautiful climbs in the area.
Een echt geweldige klim, ik heb deze klim meerdere keren gefietst zo ook afgelopen zomer 2015 rond de tour etappe. Het asfalt ligt er mooi bij, op enkele plekken ligt er misschien wat split in de bochten maar dit is te verwaarlozen. Daarnaast komt er gewoon er amper verkeer omdat het een doodlopende weg is. Het kan er wel drukkend warm zijn in de Pyreneeën, maar werkelijk een schitterende omgeving om te fietsen met veel mooie klimmetjes in de omgeving.
