Beautiful climb with reasonable shade which is delicious, even though it is stated that this is a super quiet route ending in a large high empty plain. only minus is the approach route on the main road to the exit to the climb, this is mega busy and is the main road from Andorra. ... read more

only minus is the approach route on the main road to the exit to the climb, this is mega busy and is the main road from Andorra.

From Tarascon you can take a quieter road, sort of parallel to the road to Andorra. The D20 and then D120

A really great climb, I have cycled this climb several times so also last summer 2015 around the tour stage. The tarmac is beautiful, in some places there may be some split in the curves but this is negligible. In addition, there is just hardly any traffic because it is a dead end road. It can be oppressively hot in the Pyrenees, but really a beautiful area to cycle with many beautiful climbs in the area.
