Just a monumental climb. Started out just before dawn so I could get it 'out of the way' before i had my actual holiday. Very long climb, and very peaceful so early in the morning. tried to do this in a saturday of August. Worst idea ever. I started at 8 and there were 31 degrees and as i went higher it didn't get colder. At 10.30 it was 34 degrees at 1400 meters altitude. This + fatigue + some technical problems made me stop but the heat was by far the biggest problem. Traffic is also horrible, road is decent. There are some fine views in the first two thirds of the climb, i leave the top for some other time.

This road should be on everyone’s cycling bucket list. The climb is irregular which makes it super interesting. The views over the Venetian plains below and the other aspect of the mountain are great. Its historic significance as a WW1 memorial is unique. Taken together, this is a special climb.

My first time to Monte Grappa! I decided to follow this classic approach to it, recently visited by Giro d'Italia. With the heatwave, I left Bassano just before 6am so that I could enjoy a decent temperature during my ascent. The climb is long but steady and you can easily find your pace and keep it. In the middle there is a section to recover energies for your final push. The Sacrario at the top is truly breathtaking - a memorial to a tragic period in our history which took so many lives. I carried my bike by hand to get to the very top and see the memorial from close by. Incredible views as well!

An experience you take with you. I can't wait to do it again.

Ascent of Monte Grappa done on a Sunday in June, I knew the traffic would be high but despite this it was a wonderful experience.

I found the first part a little tougher than the second part. From Campo Solagna, after the short counter slope, the climb becomes very regular and offers unforgettable mountain views. Set a regular pace without overdoing it, and you will enjoy the moment.

Be sure to take refreshments at the kiosk at Campo Solagna, or at the Ponte San Lorenzo bar before continuing on to the summit.

The climb is essentially divided into two sections of 12 km each, divided by a stretch of a few kilometres that gives you time to rest and refresh, only in this section can you find a bar and a refreshment point, for the rest there is nothing up to the summit. The gradients are never impossible, but the length does the rest.... . The summit and the history that it represents deserves 5 stars - 1 for the traffic that on Saturdays and Sundays is rather high

Made today 29 April 2024. There isn't much to add to the other reviews. It's a very long climb, with an impressive regularity, offering all kinds of backdrops (hilly forest, alpine forest, rocks and finally a stupendous snowy high mountain panorama).
I do not remember a single really hard section, on the other hand it never seems to end, and the view of the Bassano refuge only opens up after the last bend to the left. Until then you realise you are climbing because the number of switchbacks and milestones on SP 148 increases, but the summit does not come.
The state of the asphalt is excellent. In some parts it is being resurfaced for the forthcoming Giro d'Italia (the riders will descend this slope twice on the last demanding stage on 25 May). The traffic on weekdays, like today, is almost non-existent.
In the end, the Bassano refuge offers excellent sandwiches and soups, and above all an absolutely incomparable view of the Grappa massif. I did not go to the Sacrario because the snow occupied the road and I had no footwear to walk up it. Otherwise, that too would have been a very interesting visit.
Downhill, I took the road "da Semonzo". Beautiful. I am really happy to have reached this wonderful summit.

Fatta oggi 29 Aprile 2024.

This is the easiest climb on Monte Grappa, simple only because of the gradients, which are on average within 10% except for the last stretch before the Bassano refuge. Not to be underestimated for the length, it is still 24 km of climbing. You can rest at Camposolagna where for about 1km you go flat and slightly downhill and then start climbing again. It is a regular climb with no tears. However, it is the busiest because it is the main road leading to the Grappa. When you reach the top, coming out of the forest, it becomes very scenic. Recommended as a first approach to Monte Grappa.

Done with my friend Emi on 1 October. We set off as per tradition from the Ponte degli Alpini bridge at 10:30am, and at Romano d'Ezzelino, after a few flat kilometres, the climb began with a steep straight stretch of 1km that immediately made you realise what the air was like. We did it on a Sunday morning and we didn't manage to get an early start, to tell the truth, but we found a lot of traffic, especially of motorbikes, and in the first stretch through the woods it really annoyed us. Surely if we had done it during the week we would have enjoyed it more. After 12km, about halfway through, the road flattens out and for a while you can breathe. From km 18 we come out of the forest and the most beautiful part begins, with frequent and enjoyable hairpin bends. The last 5km are so beautiful that you don't even realise you are doing stretches at 8/9%.
At the summit, you can take refreshments at the Rifugio Bassano.
Beware that there are no fountains or bars along the entire route. Only a kiosk with a nice lady who sells typical products (and drinks), but I think she only opens at weekends.
Very exciting once you get back to Bassano to see it in the distance (it looks like you've done a feat)
