5.0 by MaxamorfThis is an automatic translation, the original language is: Italian. On a par with Furka and Grimsel, it is one of the most beautiful climbs I have ever tackled in Switzerland. I climbed it on a Saturday in late summer, with temperatures starting out crisp, and encountered little traffic and even some fresh snow from around 1700! A 10-star environment along the entire route. The moderate and regular gradients allow for a loose pedal stroke without ever becoming fatigued. The descent is quick and if you do not encounter any cars, just as pleasant. Fountains along ... read more

Arrived in cover cloud condition. Once we drove through the clouds, this magical scenery opened up. Early snow mountains. Clear sunny blue sky and a fantastic balcony road with views. Dont be fooled bu the gradient in the end. I hardly saw anything below 8. Road surface moderate, especially descent it wobbles quite a lot. Unspite of moderate traffic, would not have missed this in the world. 5 fcking stars easily!
Tjis climb is in two parts. The first part to Unterschächen is quite easy, although there are some harder parts through Bürglen and Spiringen. This part is on the valley floor and thus have no huge views, although the surroundings are beautiful.
After Unterschächen, the climb is on another level. From here the climb is very even with gradients at 7-8% all the way. This part leaves the valley floor behind, and gives you incredibly views. A long section is a balcony road with a massive cliff to one side and a massive drop to the other. This part have the most amazing views and makes this climb a must do.
There is a bot of traffic at the bottom of this climb, but the further up the climb you are, the less traffic you encounter. Be careful if descending towards Linthal as the descent on this side is very bumpy.
Long climb and regular impressive views of the valley below and a beautiful waterfall. In full summer it is very hot because there is no shade anywhere on this climb. So bring enough water to get to the bar 1km from the summit.

Fontane lungo l'intero percorso.
Superb climb. Nice road conditions all the way up and not too much traffic (july). Gets better and better towards the top. Beautiful views over the valley. Be aware of a single small tunnel where the road is constantly wet which is unpleasent during decent.
After a fairly drab start this climb comes to life after the short descent at the halfway mark..waterfalls very nice views of the valley & then the overhanging road. Its well worth doing
The climb of the Klausenpass from Atdorf (Willem Tell) was a wonderful experience.Long but quite doable with all those views and flowers everywhere.Totally different scenery than e.g. Mont Ventoux. When you cycle a bit further to Wassen (Sustenpass) and Andermatt (Gothardpass,Oberalppass,Furkapass with the Rhone glacier) you come across climbs in more or less the same natural conditions.
Climbed it last year during a short cycling trip to Switzerland. It's already my favourite cycling country, and this one, together with the Grimsel/Furka transition, is the cycling highlight. Beautiful col, stunning surroundings!
Loop Klausen - Pragelpas is perhaps even the most beautiful I have ever cycled.
