Beautiful climb done in late May, in fantastic weather. Fine to do few really steep sections
Mooie klim gedaan eind mei, bij fantastisch weer. Prima te doen weinig echt steile stukken
Once past the cobbles at the bottom the road surface is really good. The flat section in the middle lets you admire the mountains on either side before you start the last steep stuff. Great views all round. Lovely climb.

One of my favorite climbs, it packs lots of alpine/prealpine variety and it's also not that hard! Surprise cobbles at the start, I pushed through the first part of the climb, and from the flat section you get an incredible views on the Dolomites-like Jegerstöck mountain chain. Water stop at Urnerboden, then more crazy views on the second climb (waterfalls, this part is very Furka-like). I got LOTS of headwind on the last 2 km. Café stop at the top. The descent towards Altdorf is also awesome, the road is somewhat dangerous (exposed) but it's not technical, you get to the bottom quite quickly. Watch out for the Stäuben waterfall on the left!
Mega view and the road is also in a good condition

As with quite a few passes in the mountains, if you cycle it on a day at the weekend, you will be overtaken at every turn by motorbikes, fast cars's and motorhomes. Tip: do not go on Saturdays or Sundays (in summer).
A very long climb (almost endless if you don't regulate yourself) but with no extreme gradients and a good break towards the middle, so it feels like two passes instead of one.
It starts with two cobbled bends, a tunnel and then becomes more rustic. It also has the kind of twisty sections that we cyclists like and some worthwhile views to the left.
Absolutely beautiful climb, in fact 2 climbs, separated by flat section in the valley. Very little traffic, 2 tunnels, many hairpins, cafe at the top, water fountains on the way, waterfall. Absolutely stunning descent, tarmac quality could have been better though, but is good, compared to other swiss mountain passes.
