A very strong recommendation. My experience is it is almost 30 km along a very busy road you breathe in continuous diesel fumes few views pretty bad tarmac at the beginning.
The last 6 km are nice you have fine views but still you are on a big road and the villages are not interesting either. I myself have not been further into val towers.
Een zeer sterke afrader. Mijn ervaring is het is bijna 30 km langs een zeer drukke weg je adem continue dieseldampen in weinig uitzichten vrij slecht asfalt in het begin.
De laatste 6 km zijn mooi je hebt fijne vergezichten maar alsnog zit je op een grote weg en de dorpjes zijn ook niet interessant. Zelf ben ik niet verder in val torens geweest.
A very long but not very difficult ascent, with many flat areas to get back into gear as well as two descents. As far as the environment is concerned, the first half doesn't offer any exceptional views, but once you reach Les Menuires, the landscape opens up and offers magnificent panoramas.
Moreover, this is the longest ascent in France with its 37 kilometres of ascent, to be done!
Ascension très très longue mais peu difficile, de nombreux replat permettent de remettre du braquet en plus des deux redescentes. Niveau environnement, la première moitié n'offre pas de vue exceptionnelle, hors, une fois Les Menuires atteints, le paysage se dégage et offre de magnifiques panoramas.
De plus, il s'agit là de la plus longue ascension de France avec ses 37 kilomètres de montée, à faire !!
It looks like the Telegraphe-Galibier route but 2km more and a bit less elevation, so slightly less difficult.
Having done it once, I remember the part after Les Menuires completely clear and with a strong wind.
In summer, traffic is heavy.
Ressemble au profil de l'enchainement Télégraphe-Galibier mais 2km de plus et un peu moins de dénivellation donc légèrement moins difficile.
L'ayant fait une fois, je me souviens de la partie après les Menuires complètement dégagée et avec un vent assez soutenu.
En période estivale la circulation automobile est dense.
For a HC it wasn't so complicated despite the length thanks to the fairly gradual difference in altitude, although the last few km are a bit steep but it's still very accessible. I recommend it because it's a good walk!
Pour un HC ce n'était pas si compliqué malgré la longueur grâce au dénivelé assez progressif, à la rigueur les derniers km piquent un peu mais c'est tout de même très accessible. Je le conseille donc car ça fait une bonne balade !
Long, especially that one, a wide road, not very exciting, and ending in a ski resort. A ghost ski village, because almost everything was closed ... Quickly down again!
With little time in this area, you'd better do Col de la Loze or the Madeleine.
Lang, vooral dat dus, een brede weg, weinig opzienbarend, en eindigend in een ski-oord. Een spookwintersportdorp, omdat bijna alles dicht was...Snel weer naar beneden!
Met weinig tijd kun je in deze buurt beter Col de la Loze of de Madeleine doen.
