This option is definitely recommended over the regular route. The first 10km deviate and the road winds nicely along the mountainside through the forest, with views and past some waterfalls.
Climb is fairly regular, only between km 3-5 it is 9-11%. Towards La Menuires, the valley opens up and you get beautiful views. Definitely do it!

Zeker doen!

I like the climb to Val Thorens via Saint Laurent de la Côte better than the route from Moutiers. Long climb where you do not have to get into trouble. Above all, keep eating and drinking. Just past the halfway point is a church with the beautiful name of Sanctuaire Notre Dame de la Vie. There you will find a public toilet on the other side of the road. If necessary, you can quickly fill up with water. The further you come, the more beautiful the views. Certainly worthwhile if you are in the area.

The never-ending climb to Val Thorens, you actually start at the exit to Belleville, the climb varies mainly between 5-8% and is never really difficult, but make sure you have enough drink with you because there is no fountain for water along the way. At the top, if you ride a bit further than the image (see photo), there is a supermarket (Sherpa) where you can refill your water bottles and eat something. In short, good climb for the legs to throw loose!
