At Boulou the road diverges from the main road and climbs through the fir trees. Several bends and then you enter the pretty little village of Madranges and its 2 churches. We then take the direction of Suc au May, we pass the stream la Madrange and the road does not stop climbing until Suc au May. Everywhere the landscapes are magnificent. You fly over the countryside and then climb through a dense forest of beech and Douglas fir. At the end, just after the last steep ramp, nature offers us a magnificent 360° view, which is described by an orientation table.
Au lieu-dit Boulou la route s'écarte de la Nationale et grimpe au milieu des sapins. Plusieurs virages puis on rentre dans le joli petit village de Madranges et ses 2 églises. On prend alors la direction du Suc au May, on passe le ruisseau la Madrange et la route ne cesse plus de grimper jusqu'au Suc au May. Partout les paysages sont magnifiques. On survole la campagne puis on grimpe à travers une dense forêt de hêtres et de Douglas. A l'arrivée, juste après la dernière rampe très pentue la nature nous offre un magnifique spectacle à 360° qu'une table d'orientation nous décrit.
You leave the D940 at Boulou, heading for Suc au May, and immediately the 6％ slope takes you by surprise. 3km of climbing and it calms down when you arrive in the pretty village of Madranges. Further on the forest shelters you until the junction leading to the Col du Bos. A small flat area, a short descent, and then the road climbs steadily between lush vegetation and beautiful views of the plain as far as the eye can see in the distance. At the Col du Bos we branch off towards Suc au May, a hairpin bend and once again the forest. At Suc au May the view is breathtaking up to the Monts du Cantal and the Sancy if the weather is good. Nice pass to do.
On quitte la D940 à Boulou, direction le Suc au May, et aussitôt la pente à 6％ vous prend à revers. 3km de montée et ça se calme en arrivant dans le joli village de Madranges. Plus loin la fôret vous abrite jusqu'à l'embranchement menant au col du Bos. Un petit replat, une courte descente, puis la route n'en finit plus de grimper entre une végétation luxuriante et de beaux points de vue sur la plaine à perte de vue dans les lointains. Au col du Bos on bifurque vers le Suc au May, un lacet et à nouveau la forêt. Au Suc au May le point de vue est époustouflante jusqu'aux Monts du Cantal et au Sancy si le temps est clément. Beau col à faire.
