I did the climb on the way back from the Izoard. At the top, the view of the Gorges de Gul is beautiful. The start of the climb is right at the beginning of Maison de Roy on the left side of the road.

The most beautiful side of the Route de La Viste, steep and with the worst road surface, so fine during the climb and the descent on the other side is better. If you have vertigo do not look down when you drive along the edge of the road. A must in July and August the Gorges de Guil full of cars's, motorcyclists and the 'summer stoplight' to avoid.

Definitely a nice climb; the view of the gorge de Guil is magnificent. No cars at all (because they are not allowed on this road) and hardly any cyclists.
But be careful in the descent; lots of pine needles, pine apples and gravel on the road.
I had a flat tire on my back.

Highly recommended, for which I thank Rogier very much. Nice, quiet road. Ok, it goes up and down. The road is also no Autobahn, but.... very quiet, narrow and a pleasure to cycle. The nice thing is that you indeed leave the busy RN behind. After that, you only have to take one tunnel.

Looking for the start? After Guillestre there is a small viaduct, just before the turn to the right. Really French...

Echt Frans dus..
