I did the climb on the way back from the Izoard. At the top, the view of the Gorges de Gul is beautiful. The start of the climb is right at the beginning of Maison de Roy on the left side of the road.
Ik heb de klim gedaan op de terugweg van de Izoard. Bovenaan is het uitzicht op de Gorges de Gul prachtig. Het begin van de klim ligt direct aan het begin van Maison de Roy aan de linkerkant van de weg.

De mooiste kant van de Route de La Viste, steil en met het slechtse wegdek, dus prima tijdens de klim en de afdaling aan de andere kant is beter. Als je hoogtevrees hebt kijk dan niet naar beneden als je langs de rand van de weg rijdt. Een aanrader om in juli en augustius de Gorges de Guil vol met auto's, motorijders en het 'zomer-stoplicht' te ontwijken.
Definitely a nice climb; the view of the gorge de Guil is magnificent. No cars at all (because they are not allowed on this road) and hardly any cyclists.
But be careful in the descent; lots of pine needles, pine apples and gravel on the road.

Zeker een mooie klim; het uitzicht op de gorge de Guil is prachtig. Geen enkele auto ( want die mogen hier niet op) en nauwelijks fietsers.
Wel goed uitkijken in de afdaling; veel dennenaalden, denne-appels en steenslag op de weg.
Ik reed in ieder geval mijn achterband lek.

Looking for the start? After Guillestre there is a small viaduct, just before the turn to the right. Really French...

Een echte aanrader, waarvoor ik Rogier erg bedank. Leuke, rustige weg. Ok, het gaat op en neer. De weg is ook geen Autobahn, maar.... erg rustig, smal en een genot om te fietsen. Het leuke is dat je inderdaad een heel stuk van die drukke RN overlaat. Hierna hoef je nog maar 1 tunnel..
Zoek je het begin? Na Guillestre kom je een viaductje tegen, vlak hiervoor na rechts, Staat zelfs een bord, na de bocht. Echt Frans dus..
