I'm rating this one star higher because the scenery leading up to this climb is amazing! Do yourself a favor and start in Fischen and go through the southern valley going west (via Sibratgsfäll), then loop back through Balderschwang and continue to this climb. You won't find better views of the landscape in this area. The climb itself isn't that remarkable and there's a lot of traffic. The descent back into Fischen is very fun though.... read more

I did not ride the first 3.5 km of the climb, came down from the Rohrmoossattel. The first part is still climbing a bit, especially after the border it flattens out a lot and there are also some short descents. The road is good through a largely wide valley. Then, at the beginning of the steep part, the road suddenly changes into a real climb, with many more bends. This part is very irregular, so there are also some steeper parts. I was here on a very hot day, so it was really hard on the steep parts. The last 300m of the road flattens out considerably and you reach the pass height.

Climb worthwhile for the fact that it is the highest pass in Germany. This side is the easiest. First part through a beautiful open mountain landscape. Last part turns to the pass and is very steep. Road is a through road with traffic and does not really give an Alpine experience.
