The most difficult climb in the Tarn (although the summit is in the Aude), so it's a must for the locals! The Tour de France passed through here in 2018, but be warned: the road is in very poor condition, with lots of potholes and stones in places. On the other hand, you'll pass through some beautiful countryside, and the view from the summit is well worth the effort. The first 4-5 km, on the factory road, is easy but the road bends as soon as you turn left. I had the impression that the gradient was often steeper than the Climbfinder profile shows! It's a very, very uneven climb where it's difficult to find your own rhythm, which requires a bit of practice.

Once you have left Mazamet behind, the first climb leads upwards on mostly good asphalt through a shady forest. You pass remnants of the road painting of the Tour de France 2018 stage 15. The last part of the climb leads on open terrain to the summit. Little traffic.

Wenig Verkehr.

Nice climb. Tarmac of poor quality here and there. Especially last part the real feeling of a col

Lekkere klim.

An oasis of calm... leaving mazamet, you pass through some hamlets with industrial heritage and at one point the signs point to the left and you turn onto a narrow path that rams uphill right away... then there are some hairpins and it finally flattens out a bit and eventually you arrive at that big red and white rocket at the top.. it's best to descend via the other side (D112&D54... then you have a total of 20km of downhill on just as quiet a road) because oh how bad the road surface is on some parts of the climb... a pothole is nothing like it!
