Climb, devastating, due to a planning error I thought it was much easier (I had got confused with the data from another climb I was planning), gradients of over 15% and close to 20% for large parts of the climb, never lets up. The ascent of Monte Tomba from the Pieve di Caniezza side is a painful agony, right from the first few rides. Coming from Possagno and arriving near Caniezza, you can reach the start of the climb after turning left, following the signs. After just a few pedalings, you reach the large sign that announces the beginning of hell, since in no time at all the gradients become almost impossible, and after a little more than a kilometre of climbing, the real suffering begins: this intermediate part of the climb is breathtaking, puts undue stress on the body and never allows you to catch your breath. For 3 km you never descend below double figures and the maximum gradients repeatedly touch 16%-17%, first with a long and exhausting straight road and then with the real start of the hairpin bends, which only allow you to catch your breath for a few seconds.
The great difficulty of the climb from Pieve di Caniezza is precisely its intermediate phase, and the real challenge is to manage to keep your foot on the ground, while proceeding at minimum speed and practically maintaining a zig-zag pattern.
After km 4.5, fortunately, the road, while remaining narrow and often "dirty" with foliage and chestnuts, begins to level out, first slightly and then rather decisively. The last kilometre allows you to pick up speed until you reach the square that houses the Alpine troops monument, which offers the cyclist a choice when they reach the fork: to the left is the road that leads towards the Grappa, while to the right is the last bend, before the final 200 metres to the summit, a rather demanding straight that leads up to the little church and the summit proper, at an altitude of just over 850 metres.
The experience of climbing Mount Tomba is advisable for trained and prepared cyclists, but the effort is repaid by the sweet view of an enchanting and unspoilt landscape, while at the summit it is possible to "breathe" the history of a place that was the scene of death and suffering during the years of the Great War.

Ascent done by road bike all in one breath, beautiful, exciting for the effort, tough bike but I prefer it uphill than downhill. Tough test for those who want to experience hard gradients, there is a chance to catch your breath with the hairpin bends present but there are places where you reach the limit. However, I recommend it along with a good dose of courage

Infamous climb, one km in between with fixed gradients above 16%, no rest until almost the top. 5km of pain but at the end a great view and great satisfaction

What an effort this climb was! It nipped me in the bud right from the very first steep hairpin bends, then somehow I fumbled my way to the end. Not many cyclists or cars pass this way, despite the excellent asphalt, perhaps because the road is a bit narrow and difficult.

I will definitely do it again, with more agile ratios ;)

A fantastic climb best done I think from Alano di Piave. It is 6km long with an average gradient of 9% using this route though there are steeper ramps and also less steep sections to recover. I saw 2 cars only on the ascent there were signs saying road closed due to roadworks though there were none. The road surface is a bit broken in places but not too bad. The views from the top are spectacular looking north towards the Dolomites and south towards the Venetian plains. Make sure you avoid the 20 to 25% descent to Caniezza!

I only descended this climb, which is not recommended. It is very steep (20-22%) with many hairpin turns. For one of our group this led to a broken front wheel that got too hot (rim brakes). I think going up is quite a challenge too.
