That's very difficult climb. It is very steep, to the point that is difficult let handlebar to reach the bidon and drink (i recommend to take water in backpack tank). Surface is concrete, but there are many loose and sharp stones. Majority of the road is in the shadow, but there are some open sun sections. There is a fountain at the start of the climb, when you can fill up your water supply.
Decent is forbidden (road is narrow and 18% for 4km), one need to take a cable car to return to Tarvisio, but it's ok, staff is helpful and you can take your precious bike inside the cabin. Make sure you hold it at all time, there are no belts etc inside.
