The Col de Lançon is a good little pass for beginners looking for an introduction to mountain biking. What's more, it's located in a quiet, unspoilt environment. It has all the makings of a big pass, but is still accessible: good gradients on the Arreau side and genuine switchbacks on the Arreau and Bordères Louron sides. Like its more famous big brother, the Col d'Azet - Val Louron, it links the Aure and Louron valleys.
Little known and seldom used, it is rare to encounter vehicles here. We can only regret the frequent presence of gravel due to unconvincing attempts to maintain the surface.

lovely climb through a shaded woody area on single lane without any traffic. 9% for first 2.7km until past the village Ilhan, then you come to a flat open grassy field with wonderful views to col de Ris. magnificent fast descent through tall dense pine forest on good surface leading back into Arreau, all on a quiet road.
