Make no mistake, the climb is only short, but within three kilometres it can pretty much demolish you. It is tough and goes up viciously.
The Col de Lançon is a good little pass for beginners looking for an introduction to mountain biking. What's more, it's located in a quiet, unspoilt environment. It has all the makings of a big pass, but is still accessible: good gradients on the Arreau side and genuine switchbacks on the Arreau and Bordères Louron sides. Like its more famous big brother, the Col d'Azet - Val Louron, it links the Aure and Louron valleys.
Little known and seldom used, it is rare to encounter vehicles here. We can only regret the frequent presence of gravel due to unconvincing attempts to maintain the surface.
