Stimmy's description is very good. I can add a little more. If you go reasonably early, you still have shade. That makes it pleasant. That tunnel at the end is actually doable, despite the traffic. However, the parallel road next to it - if I am correct - is now paved. I drove past it and I also checked it out on Google Earth.
De beschrijving van Stimmy is heel goed. Ik kan het nog een klein beetje aanvullen. Als je redelijk vroeg gaat, heb je nog wel schaduw. Dat maakt het aangenaam. Die tunnel aan het einde is eigenlijk te doen, ondanks het verkeer. Echter is de parallel weg ernaast - als ik het goed heb - nu geasfalteerd. Ik ben er langs gereden en ik heb het ook nog bekeken op Google Earth.
I drove this one on a warm sunday morning in August. It was quite busy with cars.
Actually it are two climbs. The second one is the toughest. Although it is in principle nowhere so steep that you can not keep turning.
The first part has quite little shade, the second part is a bit better.
The views are very nice! You cycle on the edge of a valley that becomes narrower and narrower and you can often see far. The tarmac is fine.
Just before the top is a tunnel of 440 meters. On the way back I tried to bypass it via a parallel road but that was a bit too adventurous with gravel getting coarser and coarser.
Just after the top you have a nice view on the other side of the pass. There is also catering and a chairlift. Furthermore, not much special.
As a descent also very nice with hairpin bends and a bridge.
Deze heb ik gereden op een warme zondagmorgen in augustus. Het was tamelijk druk met auto's.
Eigenlijk zijn het twee beklimmingen. De tweede is de zwaarste. Al is het in principe nergens dusdanig steil dat je niet goed kunt blijven ronddraaien.
Het eerste deel heeft vrij weinig schaduw, bij het tweede deel is dat wat beter.
De uitzichten zijn heel erg mooi! Je fiets aan de rand op hoogte door een dal dat steeds smaller wordt en kunt vaak ver kijken. Het asfalt is prima.
Vlak voor de top is een tunnel van 440 meter. Op de terugweg probeerde ik deze te omzeilen via een parallelweg maar dat werd me iets te avontuurlijk met steeds grover wordend grind.
Net na de top heb je een mooi uitzicht over de andere kant van de pas. Er is ook horeca en een stoeltjeslift. Verder niet veel bijzonders.
Als afdaling ook erg mooi met haarspeldbochten en een brug.
