This version of the Col des Saisies is a reasonable and regular climb. Despite being on the south face, there is still some shade on the first part of the D218b. Cette version du col des Saisies est d'un pourcentage raisonnable et régulier. Malgré que l'on est en face sud, on peut malgré tout trouver un peu d'ombre sur la première partie de la D218b. Le principal défaut de cette montée est la circulation très importante en saison touristique, qui est très étendue aux Saisies. La route est plutôt bonne sur le premier tronçon et le revêtement est ensuite excellent après la jonction avec la D70 arrivant d'Hauteluce. Préférer cet itinéraire au départ de Beaufort pour plus de tranquillité dans la première partie. La deuxième partie commune aux deux variantes nous fait profiter d'une vue magnifique sur le massif du Mont Blanc.
the first part of climb to turn off to hauteluce is rather dull and full of trucks cars and motorbikes when i rode it this morning (13/6/24). after hauteluce the scenery is better with nice views and expansive fields full of wildflowers. col des saisies had a few cafes/ restaurants open which was great tho it’s just a ski resort, no views. descent via D123 was exciting, no traffic and not too bad surface.
