The climb to Monte Santo di Lovertino on the south side is a short but rather peppery one, especially at the start, when it has a few dozen metres with a double-digit gradient. But the road soon flattens out and never drags the cyclist's neck, who also has a few downhill stretches to catch his breath. At the top you can enjoy the view of a beautiful church (the parish church of San Silvestro), and you can also choose to stop or continue straight ahead along an unpaved road (a double track, ... read more

The climb to Monte Santo di Lovertino on the south side is a short but rather peppery one, especially at the start, when it has a few dozen metres with a double-digit gradient. But the road soon flattens out and never drags the cyclist's neck, who also has a few downhill stretches to catch his breath. At the top you can enjoy the view of a beautiful church (the parish church of San Silvestro), and you can also choose to stop or continue straight ahead along an unpaved road (a double track, the bikers would say) that is quite comfortable even if more suitable for gravel, and in any case impassable in the rain. For those who like Tour of Flanders sensations there is also the possibility of turning left in front of the church and "enjoying" a few hundred metres of concrete climb around 15%. The reward is reaching a plateau planted with vines, from which there are beautiful views of both the Berici and Monte della Madonna, although I cannot assure you that you have not at this point entered private property thus trespassing on other people's land.
Beware of the asphalt. The higher you go, the worse it gets, and on the descent this must be taken into account.
In summary; it is worth making a diversion if you are in the area, especially for some beautiful views of the hills. But if you are coming to the Euganean Hills and do not have much time, it is better to favour more rewarding ramps.

Attenzione all'asfalto.
