Another tough alternative to reach the Roverello Pass, this time from Arquò Bassa. The start of the climb is at Aganoor, between Sassonegro and the intersection called Corte Lovo. You ascend towards the mountain practically along a direct road, devoid of bends, and therefore very hard. The first part is traumatic. You oscillate between 15 and 20% without any breaks, for a good seven hundred metres, on a narrow road but one that has fortunately been recently resurfaced. A few drainage grates ... read more

You ascend towards the mountain practically along a direct road, devoid of bends, and therefore very hard. The first part is traumatic. You oscillate between 15 and 20% without any breaks, for a good seven hundred metres, on a narrow road but one that has fortunately been recently resurfaced. A few drainage grates annoy the ride, but when you get to the Terra Felice winery (on the left) the hardest part is over.
At the end of Via Marlunghe, the road enters the climb from the centre of Arquà Petrarca that passes through Val Pomaro. The gradients are reduced, but they are still challenging. Of particular note is the stretch before the Mottolone plateau (a beautiful panoramic point) and the one that leads to Roverello after turning right at the crossroads for Via Dea Santa. Both segments, although no more than a hundred metres long, require a good reserve of energy, which must be saved after the very hard start.
The asphalt is good at the start and end of the ascent, but uneven at the level of the plateau. Traffic along the Via Marlunghe is practically absent, but on the rest of the course it can be very heavy at the weekend.
All in all, a good challenge, rewarded however by wonderful panoramic views from both Mottolone and Roverello.

L'asfalto è buono all'inizio e alla fine dell'ascesa, invece è sconnesso all'altezza del pianoro.
