Beautiful, constant climb with great views. The north ramp from Splügen is much more constant and shorter than the south ramp from Chiavenna. Although the south ramp is more varied, the north ramp with its brilliant hairpin bends is also great!

Really good climb, I started from Sufers dorf to get a warmup before the pass climb. The first hairpins are quite steep then you can recover on the straight part where before the iconic hairpin section and you need to stop to take pictures. Although not very long the scenery is wonderful.

Swiss north flank of this literally cross-border pass (cycled June 2022) is a lot shorter than the busy Italian side. Start in the small village of Splügen which, thanks to the first series of unnumbered hairpin bends through the forest flank, soon sinks deeper under you.
