This is one of the most famous climbs in the hills, both because of its length (there are not many that climb so gradually on a wide road) and the fact that it starts from Galzignano, which is a town on the eastern side of the hills that is fairly easy to reach.
The first stretch is still between the houses of the village, but the gradient gradually increases until a considerable 12% when the first bends in the woods are reached. From there on, the climb becomes regular and medium, on a wide and scenic road, until a few hundred metres from the summit, when the slope becomes really gentle.
At the summit, one is spoilt for choice as to which direction to take. To the left you go towards the Roverello pass, with a scarce kilometre of rather challenging road. To the right is the south side of Roccolo, which, however, as of today (March 2025) is closed due to a landslide. Going straight on, we descend towards Fontanafredda with four kilometres of beautiful descent, with technical bends, beautiful views and smooth asphalt.

A beautiful climb, the easy start in the village of Galzignano allows you to get into the right rhythm for the more difficult part of the climb that comes immediately after leaving the village. The final part flattens out and gives you time to enjoy the beautiful panorama. An excellent starting point for more demanding climbs, such as the Roccolo.
