A typical Provence mountain road, narrow, ok asphalt (of the type we throw gravel on it and drive it in), at times a bit bumpy, but you only notice that on the descent. I have climbed this on multiple occasions and it has been an equally good experience each time. The climb can be sectioned into three parts. There is the first part out of Buis, where the gradients are moderate 5-6% ish, before the next flat part. This second part is quite beautiful as you ride through a small village and can look over to a rock cliff massif on your right. Then comes a small gorge/canyon which signals the start of the third section of the climb. Here, the gradients goes up with the last 2 km never really dipping below 7-8%. Luckily, a few hairpins give some respite, and you are suddenly at the top (a small village). Unfortunately, the climb is a dead end if you are on road bike, and for this reason I would only recommend it as a detour if you are already in Buis and want some extra climbing. But on the plus side, there is barely any traffic when you are in the middle of nowhere.
