If you pass under the railway viaduct from Remersdaal or Hombourg, you will see a sign "dead end" in the bend after it. By bike, however, you can continue along a few large boulders. This way, you can cross through to the last part of the Kasteelstraat and don't have to ride to Sinnich to enter the Kasteelstraat there. The first part is a bit spicier than the climb from Sinnich.
Als je vanuit Remersdaal of Hombourg onder het spoorwegviaduct door rijdt zie je in de bocht erna een bordje "doodlopende weg" staan. Met de fiets kan je wel doorrijden langs een paar grote keien. Op deze wijze kan je de doorsteek maken naar het laatste deel van de Kasteelstraat en hoef je niet naar Sinnich te rijden om daar de Kasteelstraat op te gaan. Het eerste stuk is iets pittiger dan de klim vanuit Sinnich.
Wonderful alternative to the slightly busier climb via the castle street. From Teuven, you have to cycle a bit further towards Obsinnich, where you turn left into a dead-end street that is accessible to cyclists. At a little bridge, motorised traffic is stopped by barriers so the climb is completely car-free and quiet through a beautiful deciduous forest. The percentages tick into the double digits but are doable and run fairly evenly, after which you eventually emerge back onto Kasteelstraat for the final stretch of the climb towards Beusdael.
Prachtig alternatief voor de iets drukkere klim via de kasteelstraat. Vanuit Teuven moet je iets doorfietsen richting Obsinnich, waar je in de bocht linksaf een doodlopend straat infietst die wel toegankelijk is voor fietsers. Bij een bruggetje wordt gemotoriseerd verkeer tegengehouden door barrières dus is de klim geheel autovrij en rustig door een mooi loofbos. De percentages tikken de twee cijfers aan maar zijn te doen en lopen redelijk gelijkmatig, waarna je uiteindelijk weer op de Kasteelstraat uitkomt voor het laatste stuk van de klim richting Beusdael.
After a bumpy approach, the climb starts on a small but well-paved path that is barely 2 metres wide. Nevertheless, this, and the later part on the larger road, is a nice climb, as you can never fully rest, but never have to push yourself to the limit.
Nach einer holprigen Anfahrt startet der Anstieg auf einem kleinen, aber ordentlich asphaltierten Weg, der wohl kaum 2 Meter breit ist. Trotzdem ist dieser, und der spätere Teil auf der größeren Straße, eine schöne Kletterei, da man sich nie ganz ausruhen kann, aber nie voll ans Limit muss.
A somewhat strange climb. First you descend to the brook (in the beginning there is a sign "dead end road" but very small you can see on top of the sign the possibility for cyclists and pedestrians). On the bridge there are large boulders so that really no car comes along and then you go into a narrow asphalt road which here and there threatens to become overgrown (view is not there either). The road undulates between different percentages but I do not feel the 13％ come back anywhere. Eventually you return to the "regular" climb which continues nicely upwards.
Nice climb, but not as good as the one from Sinnich. Useful for when you really want to cycle quietly uphill.
Een wat vreemde klim. Eerst daal je af naar de beek (in het begin is er een bord "doodlopende weg" maar heel klein zie je bovenaan het bord wel de mogelijkheid voor fietsers en voetgangers). Op de brug liggen grote keien zodat er echt geen auto langs komt en daarna ga je een smal asfaltweggetje in wat her en der overwoekerd dreigt te raken (uitzicht is er ook niet). De weg golft tussen verschillende percentages maar de 13％ voel ik niet ergens terugkomen. Uiteindelijk kom je weer op de "reguliere" beklimming terecht die lekker verder omhoog loopt.
Leuke klim, maar haalt het niet bij de klim vanaf Sinnich. Wel handig voor als je écht rustig naar boven wilt fietsen.

Hier zal je waarschijnlijk geen medefietser zien totdat je de Kasteelstraat oprijd, behalve misschien een afdalende mountainbiker. Het asfalt tot de Kasteelstraat is niet fantastisch maar goed te doen. Met deze klim rijd je de tweede haarspeldbocht van de Kasteelstraat uit Sinnich op en rijd je er zelf dus maar één op deze versie vanuit Obsinnich. Deze versie alleen aan te raden als je die uit Sinnich al gedaan hebt en deze ook wilt doen, of als je het eerste stuk alleen wilt fietsen zonder ander verkeer. Als je de afdaling 'Kultjen' doet kan je deze klim ook mooi pakken. Foto is net voor de laatste bocht voor de top.

Heerlijk doortrekken door het bos en met de haarspeldbochten kun je je maatjes uit t zicht rijden.
Leuke ontsnapping van het populaire Zuid Limburg met leuke andere beklimmingen in de buurt en terrasjes waar je gezellig iets kunt drinken.
Voor de strava verslaafden rijdt een stuk door op de top want het segment is verder dan je denkt. Let wel op als je gaat afdalen want dit stuk wegdek hebben ze in 1963 vergeten te bewerken...
