From this side, the Great King's Belt is not much. I would not call it a real climb. However, you notice that it is constantly rising. I catch myself trying to keep on pedalling with too heavy a gear. In the end you ride here mainly to descend the Grote Koningsbelt on the steep side.... read more

You can feel the gradients but it's not really a real climb it seems to me. Compared to all the other climbs in the area, this one is not very exciting. A false flat section with a small peak in it if you ask me. Nice to put the legs to work. Very beautiful surroundings though so definitely worthwhile.

A fun climb leading from the heath into the forest on a considerably winding road. Most of it barely rises but after the junction with the cycle path you do have a clear slope to negotiate. Good tarmac.

Once you've crossed the Holterberg mountain it runs into the Koningsbelt. Here too you can ride on two sides and make your round of the Sallands hills.
The view over the heathland remains beautiful, wide open that you're not really used to in this part of the Netherlands.
