The climb is quite short, but also definitely punchy. I was mistaken about the profile of the climb. It starts with a slightly steeper section of about 20/30 meters at 8% and then seems to level off. However, the longer steep part only starts then, so to avoid raking it is not unwise to start the climb slowly.... read more

Deep Hell is a short, irregular climb with several steps that break your rhythm. An initial steeper section is followed by a longer, punchy middle section that hurts the most.

Having to work hard is what is asked of you on this climb. I did notice that this is a road with a lot of traffic. The traffic doesn't bother you but it does make sure you have to pay attention. If you climb the Holterberg, you should definitely include this in your ride.

Lovely and tough climb in the middle of the Sallands Heuvelrug. The last 200 metres are standing and stomping 😀.
More than worth detouring for.

One hell I wouldn't call it. Nevertheless, this is a nice pleasant change. For the trained cyclist this shouldn't be a surprise anywhere, but then you shouldn't have a bike where the DI2 shoots into crash mode at the wrong time in the wrong place . ( so yes I had that )

The entire Holterberg route is highly recommended! In the middle of the route comes this tricky but beautiful and challenging climb.

My first "real" climbing experience and with a grubby and heavy trekking bike (with 3 x 9 I believe) plus heavy camping equipment it was for an inexperienced climber - with already many km's in the legs that day and after the approach from Holten - just hard work. Now I would probably think very differently but back then it was stomping uphill in s'n 1.
The scenery is beautiful, although it is a pity that the climb takes you right from the beautiful moors into the forest (the other way round would have been nicer) but fortunately, after the top you have the next moor where you are rewarded with beautiful views. The road winds nicely. Can be busy but I was here towards evening and then it was lovely cycling.

This is always the climb for which you make the trip to the Sallandse Heuvelrug. You cross the heathland to start the climb at the edge of the forest. This one always seems to go in steps. The first hump you can take quite easily with speed. After that it's a bit flatter and finally you get a long bend where you meet the steepest parts. Just keep on going, cross the top and then a small spur.

The "deep hell" is the best part of the road between Holten and Nijverdal. Percentages where you have to work hard, rewarded with beautiful views when you're on top.

This piece of road in the region "The Deep Hel " called, you come anyway if you drive from Holten to Nijverdal. At the white stone, the climb is not finished yet! It can be quite busy with cars and they do not always take good account of the cyclists, unfortunately.

This climb, like all Salland climbs, I cycle often. It is somewhat irregular and that makes it fun and hard. The steepest part is in the middle and after passing the big stone keep on cycling until you reach the highest point.

Longest climb (approx. 2.4 km) in this area is the Kleine Koningsbelt. Especially from the west side (from Haarle to the Schouwenburgweg) it is best to pedal on. The starting height is about 10 meters and the top is at about 64 meters.
