Very nice climb that runs parallel to its better known brother Kanarieberg. The Fortuinberg is in my opinion more fun, more beautiful and above all more challenging. Especially the last part through the forest is great cycling, at least if you are not afraid of steep percentages. At the end of April I cycled it up again and due to the removal of a large number of trees, the road has improved considerably. In dry conditions it is no problem to climb up. ... read more

Road surface is not equally good everywhere. Much steeper than Canary Mountain and there seems to be no end to it, nice cycling among the forests though.

Very steep thing; in the first, open stretch, the gps ticked 18%! Ridden in hot weather today: with the sun full on you, the sweat can drip off you. After this first stretch, you can catch your breath for a while, as a short stretch downhill. Then you are protected, as you are among the trees (also quite tricky with stretches up to 12%). Did encounter some cars's and that was a bit narrow - the road surface is not super this second part either. But because of the difficulty and steepness, you should definitely have done it once!

This one is quite tricky, trickier than the nearby Canary Mountain. Mainly because the road surface is less and contains difficult curves while Canary is more straightforward. Still remains a fun mountain to test your legs on.

As mentioned earlier in the experiences: this climb excels in its steep percentages. Unfortunately, the road surface in the second part is not everything, and the twisting and turning makes the climb cluttered. With the course bike, I would also always prefer Canary Mountain to this one. With the mountain bike/gravel bike the opposite.

Nice climb, one very big downside: bad road surface in the middle of a forest, if it has rained in the last few days it is not recommended one a racing bike.

Beautiful scenery, very steep along its entire length. The fattest paved climb in Flanders. Always enjoy.

Prachtige omgeving, zeer steil over de gehele lengte. De vetste verharde klim van Vlaanderen. Altijd weer genieten.

The climb itself is tough and challenging, especially the first steep section is ugly.
But on a racing bike it is better to go up Canary Mountain.
Road surface is not optimal, especially if you have oncoming traffic. I would prefer this one on a mountain bike as it is a bit more adventurous.

Unknown climb, but really great to do. The Fortuinberg takes you from the south side of the Muziekberg to the top in the Muziekbos. The very steep parts are accompanied by beautiful views. The short downhill stretch before you turn into the forest is a good moment to catch your breath just before and after the steepest parts of this climb. I'm totally sold on the Fortuinberg and will do it again numerous times.

Pretty tough climb that winds through the woods.
Best try to keep pace without blowing yourself up in the beginning.
Nice view when you reach the top.
Little traffic, but when there is traffic, there is little chance for the traffic to pass you.

Recommended as an alternative to Canary Mountain, much nicer (through the woods) and little/no traffic.

One of the most beautiful climbs to the Music Forest but with 22 front and 32 back it doesn't have to be tough.
